Troy was officially listed on the roster as a Defensive Back/ saftey but they basically they just let him move around wherever he wanted bc he was usually right lol

In short yardage situations you will often see a bear formation which means that a defender is assigned for each running lane or ''gap'. Goal line defense where it is short yardage to the end zone will bring out goal line defense which also stacks the box. Pretty obvious stuff but I thought I would add it because you will see it in games.

Don't try to take it all in at once. Americans start watching football young for the spectacle and not understanding much. It takes years before you can watch a play and then call out the specific penalty that happened before its announced. Like wise, knowing what scheme an offense or defense is in isn't important for watching or knowing what the teams are trying to do. It is really helpful watching live broad casts because the announcers (who are often former players) will dissect the play and give insight that you wouldn't pick up from just watching highlights. That being said, the chess match the coaches (and sometimes the QB and MLB) play is my favorite part of the sport

The author of the video you watched has another two I highly recommend, pre-snap penalties and post-snap penalties. These two videos explains why the penalties are flagged, and set up the rules the offensive side must meet with their formations. I wish there were videos explaining basic offensive plays, but I have not found any I would recommend.
