Thanks for being our Guinea pig! I was worried about Absolute power 0 because DC is famous for doing those 10 artist team books where every two pages are different or 8 different stories and I straight-up hate that style of story telling. I usually pass when I see a wall of artists and writers credited on a story. I think the worst comic I’ve bought in my life was the DC summer special 7-8 years back. It was so dumb. I will pick this one up solely because of your review!

The Zatanna book surprised me as well. It was a strict cover buy. The foil was sick and I couldn't not buy it. Was very glad I read it lol!

I am a 100% DC guy. For the most part I have read almost every DC book since Rebirth. And quite a few since Crisis. And every Superman book since 1974. I have not been this excited about a DC event since Reign of Superman. I am all in and loved Ground Zero and all the build up going back to Dawn Of DC Primer, but really the ground work was laid in Batman vs Robin and select books and mini series since. Having read it all it was a well thought out plan to get us to where we are now.

I thought Gatchaman #1 was just okay. I have been spoiled by the Energon Universe because I was expecting something more. This read like they took a script from the cartoon and just made it a comic. I am hoping it gets better and deeper. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Zatanna issue. I am a big fan of the character, but you are 100% correct that you don't need to be. It's a very well told story that does get dark. The characterization of everyone in the dialogue felt very genuine. I could read and see the emotions of who they are and what they were experiencing in that moment. I agree 100% an A comic.

I think you would understand it better because you would have read the stories that lead to this point. However I do think this comic is a good jumping on point since it introduces you to the major players in the book.

I wouldn't mind a limited series which uses a lot of different characters from different books. But events are an invasive species. I hate my regular comics being hijacked and interrupted by stupid events. Also, I've heard that many parts of the Ground Zero comicbook will not be understandable unless I have also read comicbooks x, y, and z. This is common in events. You HAVE to read so many comics you do NOT want to read just so you can understand the comics the actually want to read. I have been subbing a lot of noncanonicals, and dropping regular titles. Regular titles get sucked into events. And noncanonicals are better stories. People can get killed and not come back. When was the last time ASM was good? BUT, Spider's Shadow and Spider-Man Life Story were both great. And the current one about the Green Goblin is good too.

"Blood Hunt" is or was an event that I found very disappointing. I had high hopes for it and signed up for all of the tie-ins ... but most of them just sucked and added absolutely nothing to the main series. So I dropped all of them quickly except the main title red bag editions. And I'll be very careful what to buy once Absolute Power gets rollin'.

I don’t know. I skipped on Absolute Power Ground Zero because the art looks like back up/fill in art or collection of reprints. But I will give it another look. Amanda Waller is not a really interesting villain. I sense her motive is understandable, but the way she does things and work with shady characters and method make her less sympathetic. And art of Zatanna was not my favorite neither, but might check that out too.

The Zatanna art makes me hesitate to buy it. Come on, Zee deserves better! P.S. - Nah, Waller's motives are 100% pure selfish and evil. She got a poor guy transfered into Garro and he accidentally killed them both. She made a deal with Trigon's spawn to make Garro lose control in the first place. She wanted to kill all the people infected and turned.. I think it was at least a million... and is working with the literal evil aka Trigon.

Happy Friday, guys 🎉 I have 0 interest in DC's event, in fact, it's awful that the one book Wonder Woman has, is getting hijacked for the event. That's 3 months off for the story. Way to ruin the momentum. I'll stick to the Shazam!⚡️ ongoing and Titans... both will keep with their ongoing plots. The event's tie-in Shazam! issues? PASS. At least they're seperate issues from the ongoing.
