I believe it will raise Tarkov's skill floor. In Tarkov, people (myself included) often avoid fights and don't know how to respond when one is likely. Time between combat engagements is waaaaay too long, preventing people from learning by repetition. If Arena plays like Tarkov's combat, it'll allow people to fight and die quickly and get back into a new game to do it again much more rapidly. More combat iterations means more lessons learned, players get better. So people will get greater confidence to push and take fights where they wouldn't have before.

Which is GREAT in my opinion. Back in the day when there was no inertia and find in raid, fights were easier to “attempt”. You could A D strafe behind cover, gain into a lot easier and bait shots without dying as much as now. Flea market allowing you sell other people’s gear and guns, lots of times for highly inflate prices made it a lot easier for lower levels/low traders lvl players to make rubles and so I think it made it easier for them to push PvP. Not saying inertia or found in raid is bad or anything, but people used to push a lot harder back in the day. For me personally it was much more fun when people would dependably push you, as opposed to everyone clamming up, staying still or hiding. Too many fights for me have been 10, 15 minute affairs where I can finally fight where I don’t die to a guy who had max advantage due to ratting, or I just get fed up waiting and push my disadvantage

Before watching the video, I think it will make late-wipe a little less sweaty, and more welcoming for newer players. As well as help new players get a grasp on PvP, while bringing more new Tarkov players. I can see myself playing this, when Tarkov is kicking my ass. When you have 3-5 bad raids in a row, and it's been 1-2 hours of shit, one can just hop over for some less mindful, low risk action. I can also see myself using this to warm up before playing Tarkov, and while waiting for friends to get online.

I am definitely looking forward to Arena as a training ground as you pointed out in the video. I have had a tough time getting a good handle on PVP (especially CQC) after starting to play the game mid current wipe. By the looks of everything I have seen Arena will be a great place to hone these skills and bring them to the main game with less 20 minutes of gearing and loading in between lost fights.

Honestly it will probably be like every other br/shooters that have incorporated a "Arena" mode after the main games release it spikes with players and once it becomes repetitive meaning every one just holds the same angles every match people will fall back to the original game style because it has that "you never know what's going to happen" factor unlike arena based games.

This is a dumb take. Most popular FPS are arena style shooters, minus the BR games. People don't get bored of competition. You saying people got bored of Nuketown in CoD? Or Rust? Or Hijacked? Seemed like people loved those maps for years. Talk about repetitive angles, too. You couldn't even peek corners in CoD, either. Look at CSGO maps ffs. People habitually hold angles on maps that have been around for a decade. Yet, somehow, it's still extremely popular. Arena is only going to attract new people and allow current players to have pvp without the fuss. Nothing complicated.

I know this is my first wipe in EFT but I’ve gotten so tired of dying to some level 50+ that I never saw with a .338 on customs. I hope arena will pull the pvp no lifes away and give the rest of us that just want to play the game a small break

I've played for three tarkov wipes and never really got any "fights" I usually played solo so I would either just shoot first and kill instantly, there wouldn't be further fighting, or I would get shot and die on the spot. I never really got any fighting experience and quit tarkov because of it, I played arena recently and found out i'm not that bad when it comes to actual fighting, making me want to get back into to tarkov again.

i used to play a lot of eft at the very beginning, bought eod early 2017 iirc, i was good at it for a while until i just started playing other games and since then i've tried a couple times to get back in, only to be 1-tapped all night by scavs or because i didn't have the new expanded map knowledge. i still see the customs map as it was in the very beginning, same with factory, i even remember the half map shoreline once was. i sure hope arena will give me that experience in weapon play back, that would boost my confidence to try eft again as well. especially knowing you can progress in both games by playing only 1 to an extent.

I put 1000hrs in across 3 consecutive wipes. My play time dropped with each wipe. As getting my account to a stable economic position became easier, my interest in raids turned to boredom. I wanted to get in gun fights, all the complex systems I enjoyed just caused more and more frustration. 5 - 7 mins in-between raids, gearing up, packing mags, feeding and healing my pmc, building and rebuilding guns, the tedium of it all. Arena can't come soon enough. I've cut my teeth on the survival aspect of the game had my fun. Now I just wanna ball out, shift w and mouse 1.

Just my 2 cents as a long time EoD owner : Reason 1 seems short sighted : When the playerbase in arena crosses by a large margin the one from eft. Knowing Nikita and his long term view of achieving Russia 2028 or w/e it is I don't think he will think twice when you know about server costs to shut it down. In a game like EfT server costs are bound to kill the game at some point no matter what unless there a "change of paradigm" breakthrough in the field but don't count on it. Reason 2 is bogus >> POV : You don't have time to grind lvl 4 traders in a wipe because of irl stuff. So I have time to launch one or two raids being constantly low level with trash gear or play a few arena rounds where i just pay a flat amount of roubles for better gear altogether, which do you think I am going to choose after an exhausting day/week ? Ultimately I think if Arena can get past cheaters and other BSG related issues Nikita seems to have great plans for it especially in the esports side. I see it as a bad thing for Tarkov in the state we know it. But I hope to proved wrong. I like Tarkov and I see Arena as a nice bonus and excited to try it and go back to Reserve. No mean to disrespect or anything just providing a different opinion as asked in the comments. Good luck on your journey

I believe most the people play Tarkov as a FPS PVP shooter, especially the chads. They don’t min-max selling gear, what loot they take, or any other looting aspects. They just want the fights. Arena will give that quick in and out fighting in a compact package that they want.

Allowing players to work with similar gear levels in arena will help. I'm actually tired of being late to wipes and can't even do the lvl 1 quests because people already have top tier equipment and are camping the noob quest areas. That and the pocketwatch quest using a key that spawns in dorms... Yeah I never get the chance to even properly PVP because of the gear difference.

I hope they include Lore into the gear that they said can be obtained only as rewards in Arena, and be used in Tarkov. For example, there is a point where the main character in the Tarkov books is gifted a special firearm made custom by Mechanic. The SAD or SUD or something like that, which is a Bullpup'd SVDS with an Integrated Suppressor.

Experience rates may have to be adjusted for questing and skill leveling, if I remember correctly arena will effect your pmc. But if someone wants to play both it takes a while for people with a 9-5 to level their pmc and trying to play arena and staying4 caught up may be a problem.

I'm 99% of the time a solo player so EFT kicks my whole ass majority of the time, but its still a rush killing squads and getting out thicccc. Maybe arena will bring me back to EFT, we will see. i believe both arena and the base game will have two individual communities inside the eft community. Remember contract wars and the other arena style eft battlestate made? What I really like about Arena is that a lot of tryhards will migrate over from EFT, making Tarkov itself more enjoyable to play. Even though I have a couple thousand hours on both of my accounts combined, the experience with these people in particular got so frustrating that I quit playing EFT alltogether a couple months ago. Some might say that I just don't enjoy pvp which is not true, but I'd rather chill and team up with other people than to get into petty fights with everyone on the same map.

You hit the nail on the head in a lot of these points you said. My PVP is very much lacking when it comes to the main game. And there’s no..”real” way for me to warm up unless I do offline with a buddy or a group of people better than me. Arena will help me not only warm up but practice my PVP and help me keep my composure during intense gunfights without the fear of losing things. I have a feeling all the Valorant and Counter Strike people will absolutely hate Arena because the movement in itself is way slower and they're used to just swinging corners, swapping weapons like a meth'd out crackhead and all the other stuff that makes Tarkov slower paced. But for those of us who already enjoy and/or are used to Tarkov's movement, Arena is going to help with getting practice in those hard to reproduce CQC situations without actually caring about your loadout.

I think it really depends on the weapons and handling. If the recoil continues to be terrible, I'm not sure people will be drawn to the main game. We currently deal with recoil in the game because there is no alternative. I'm not sure people will stay for lackluster shooting in arena without the rest of the gameplay mechanics and systems of Tarkov.

I sadly believe I will switch to Arena primarily over Tarkov, some of the changes coming in this most recent wipe don't appeal to me at all (armor plates and focus on streets, which never interested me to begin with). Yes… it will hopefully change tarkov…. Now here’s why: I have played about 5 raids since the wiggle video, on the 5th one I encountered a hacker, and some toxic teammates. I will not play arena if there isn’t a replay system. If there is a replay system I will not play regular tarkov until there is a replay system, a replay system will get banned about 50% of the player base (not just rage hackers, but loot/avoidance hackers) of regular tarkov. Unless those numbers are lower now but I’m pressing x to doubt

I imagine the kind of crowd that doesnt play tarkov and comes over for arena could get very annoyed at the current sound problems at least if they arent fixed. On the other hand, i feel that building arena will also free up BSG to do more of their survival/"rpg" vision for the game without alienating the players who prefer more of the gunplay, tactics and fighting.

There are too many factors to tell at this point. We don't know how Nikita will support Arena, what kits we'll get access to for "free" while playing that mode (IIRC we can transfer Arena and EFT gear between modes). If everything goes as I expect it will go, Arena will just be the new Factory, where I can go and unload into PVP, but better. But the whole point of the game is doing raids and finding loot, if it just becomes Counter strike with extra steps I'll probably not play it much.

I think you missed a bit of info( I don’t mean this rudely). But at the latest event/ show off for arena. one of the commentators was interviewing Nikita and Nikita was saying about how your money and level/xp is shared between the games, so if you go broke in tarkov you will be broke in arena. So I assume this is their way of stopping one game killing the other and can work in harmony I know it was also said that you can gain xp in arena which will go towards your character in EFT

I think that arena will be a good learning lesson for pvp as well as a software or something to help out with the cheaters and bring that to tarkov. I think Arena will have an interesting effect on Tarkov , in that with Arena being a place for people to pvp consistently without down time. So those who work a job or just don’t have the time for the game can focus more on the core skills like shooting, movement etc and that will be transferred to Tarkov 1:1 . We could see some more intense fights as players get better and learn from arena which I welcome and am excited for as I am on the side that doesn’t have time for a lot of Tarkov and rarely gets pvp experience and I feel that arena will allow me to hone my skills

I don't think it's gonna do much to the core game. Whoever plays Tarkov knows that it's for the lowest lows and the highest highs. You don't get that heartbeat in games where you respawn after dying. Arena is going to help people who are afraid of PVP in the core game, because it's going to allow them to get used to the gunplay easier and will probably raise the skill cap overall, but that's pretty much it.

I have 4k hours in Tarkov and I am so bored of it that I started playing SPT then bored of it too. Tarkov is something that makes a void to be filled there are no other games that can fill that void. That is why I have high hopes for the Arena.

Yeah, I think Arena can only be good for Tarkov. It's going to be great being able to play both games. I'll personally be using it the way we've historically used offline factory raids: perfect way to build good muscle-memory for PvP and warm up at the beginning of a session. I can also play Arena on those evenings where I'm mentally tired and feel like playing a CoD-style game (without having to lose 250gb of HDD space and play a bad game). Arena will never "replace" Tarkov for me, because I'm in love with the general ambiance of Tarkov and the survival / persistent qualities of the game. Tarkov is just a totally different shooter experience: it's so reliant on paying a lot of attention and making good decisions in a way other games just can't replicate. Arena is a casual shooter. It will be great to have both options at our disposal, and great that the basic gunplay mechanics will be mirrored between the two.

it will not kill tarkov, it may take some people away to play that mode but it will also bring in more people. think of all the count striker and games like that arean will draw in new people they may join the core game as well

I would love for someone to attempt to explain how you could possibly make escape from tarkov worse than it already is.
