Will BallisticNG run on a 16-year-old Dell OptiPlex 755 Office PC?

you could debloat the windows install, disable telemetry and such, i found it helps the computer run more smoothly and in general feel snappier on older machines also not positive that it'll work but back in the day you could tape up 2 or 3 contact pads on the cpu itself to boost its clock, wasnt stable on every one ofc but was worth a shot, it was really good on my e6600, got around 3ghz but still doubt it'd make a difference when playing any games if you're using the igpu

Since that’s an old computer, with a spinning hard disk… maybe defragment the hard drive? It might also be possible to upgrade that computer with still-period-appropriate hardware. A bit more RAM, a higher-end (for the time) CPU, a half-decent graphics card… And finally… BallisticNG doesn’t have DRM, so you can play without Steam running.

All very good points... Maybe I should defragment the hard drive. And I should try loading the game without any mods. One day, I should try putting an SSD in this OptiPlex PC.. as well as a half-decent graphics card as you said

Desert Bus, but as a BallisticNG track. Thoughts? Also, I just found out my laptop can run BallisticNG at max settings in 4K, above the screen refresh rate. And as for browsers… what you *should* get is either Firefox or Opera GX.

Oh my god.. An 8 hour BallisticNG race 😭 Also, nice that your PC can run the game so well 👍 And I always use Google Chrome which is why I mentioned it, but I guess Firefox would be another good alternative

opera gx is a memory hog bigger than chrome unless you turn off all the features they advertise from what i found out and the memory and cpu limiter doesn't seem to work

Have this Dell Optiplex 380 with a mod, short 2 pins on the CPU socket. Plug in a Xeon quad core. It served me for another 8 years. Not playin games tho... Nice machines

What in the Frankenstein? 😂 Man, I actually miss those old PCs. Life was so simple back then, you didn't have to spend 3 grand on a PC that you needed to spend an additional 200 for someone to put together, because when you put it together, it for some unmagical reason doesn't turn on (yes, I actually went through that lol). On the upside, a modern high-end PC can do anything. I just hope I can one day get my kidney back

😒👍 LGA 775 FTW , upgrade the cpu to a better core2duo or core2quad if the bios supports it, and a bus powered card such as HD R7 R9 GT GTX, also u need 8gb of ram, then retest. Next week i'll be putting my gigabyte 775 back together again 🙂🐢

@@j.w.techchannel 😊 upgrading and tinkering and experimenting is always fun, i mostly do it with old pc parts because its alot cheaper, im looking at craigslist right now for my next test subject, looks like its more than likely another AM3+ FX board cpu combo

@@j.w.techchannel yes its very forgiveable, see if u can find the cpu support list for that exact board, lga 775 went thru many revisions and years so not all cpus will work on all boards, some cpus will only work with certain bios versions, first thing to do is update the bios to the last version and find out what the last version supports

Well... BallisticNG is heavily inspired by the PS1 WipEout games. But, despite how similar it looks and feels, BallisticNG actually has a lot of original content to offer, including it's own ships, tracks, soundtrack, etc. as well as it's own art style. I think it's a great game.
