I really hope everything works out in CP’s favor. I want this to make other lines a lot shorter. Tony Clark did say in the live stream there is no single rider line. They probably didn’t even think about it but most of their Coasters would benefit from one.

They can usually get someone who is paying attention from the bottom of the steps to the station of Steel Vengeance on that cycle. If they're paying attention.

Tony said no single riders line and when a train made the tophat, they can launch the next train. 5 blocks, 3 trains and seperate load and unload in the station so there is always an empty train in the loading bay.

Zamperla better pull this off. I'm am booked to be there the last Monday and Tues of August. Live in FL haven't been in 3 yrs. Visit B.G. Tampa, Seaworld, and all the Universal parks including Volcano Bay multiple times a yr. Had an unbelievable first visit on the peninsula. Spent 2 days and it was truly magical. However, my brother and I are traveling there again to get a taste of tt2. If TT2 wasn't going in we wouldn't be making the trek. So come ON ZAMPERLA, you better not let us down. We are fired up. NO PRESSURE. Screw a Zamperla launch coaster if TT2 works. Give us a mack extreme spinner that breaks all the records.

I think the capacity might be more than the original because Top Thrill 2 will be way way way more reliable than the original. TT2 will get significantly more annual riders than the original TTD ever did, i would like them to make a 4th train and keep it on the storage track in case one of the 3 needs maintenance done

I’m pretty sure when Cedar Fair and Six Flags merge in March, they might not do this. If they do, Top Thrill 2 will feel like a family ride compared to Kingda Ka 2.0, leading to Top Thrill 2 losing popularity.

I was at CP later in 2003 when Top Thrill Dragster opened, but I wasn't able to ride it because it was down while they waited for months for a special part from somewhere in Europe. I'm hoping to finally be able to ride it sometime this year.

I really hope Top Thrill 2 is a success. Not only because the OG Top Thrill Dragster was my all time favourite coaster however I have also wanted to see other parks build more launched stratacoasters. I have always wanted to see a launch stratacoaster come to Canada's Wonderland and I feel that Top Thrill 2's success would help to pave the way for the park to get a launched stratacoaster.

I don't think they will have to replace the original track any time soon. Corkscrew, Mine Ride and Gemini are pushing 50 years old. they're not having any track replaced yet

Corkscrew goes 48 MPH, Mine Ride goes 42 MPH, and Gemini goes 60 MPH... TTD and TT2 go 120MPH... that's a ton more wear and tear on the track then those slower rides like you mentioned.

Cedar Point is land locked. I have often wondered if Cedar Point could expand by building piers (think Morey’s Piers in New Jersey or the ride pier in Galveston, Texas). However, it’s very possible that environmentalists would prevent construction of piers to preserve natural environments for the fish and insects that have habitats in the area.

I'm thinking that this goes extremely well. They really took some time with taking the right approach to this and it's looking very well put together. The trains were very nice and comfortable at chill out (were you there?) as well. The park knows the stakes of not sticking the landing on this and they've had their fair share of screw ups and I believe the original 2021 incident beat some sense into them to really do this right.

Regarding the replacement of the original track, I think that the biggest issue is going to be the track rusting from the inside out. When we're talking about sheer wear from trains running along the track, Dragster is probably doing better than similarly aged coasters due to the nature of its limited capacity. Of course, that may be offset by the extreme forces put on it from that limited number of train runs. I can only assume that CP took all of this into consideration before greenlighting the reconditioning.

I wonder if we’ll see those mini seat belts being added between the front of the lap bar and the middle of the seat? This kind of lap bar often has a small amount of “play” even when locked. Blackpool’s Icon coaster has these belts added after two seasons due to, I believe, guest feedback, as it wasn’t particularly reassuring to enter an inversion with hang time and feel your lap bar give a little. I’m a seasoned coaster rider and this still put me off riding. I believe that any ride where the restraint is safety-critical, rather than just needed to stop the rider from messing about, there should be a secondary device that shows the rider that even if there is some play in the locking mechanism that the bar still won’t suddenly open.

I asked Tony Clark at Winter chill out if Cedar point is Confidant enough with Zamperla to work on One of the biggest coasters in the world knowing they are more known with their flat rides and not so much coasters and... He was very stern and kind of rude to me to ask that question... Cause Zamperla built the wild mouse and there was a ton of down time with wild mouse....

He’s rude because he probably knows that it wasn’t a smart decision. Zamperla should not have even had a seat at the table when redoing this ride. I expect nothing but bad things. I’ve ridden their coasters at Luna Park and none of them even crack a top 200 coaster in the nation.

As for the next major ride, if love to see a dark ride coaster, something along the lines of Rockin' Roller Coaster at WDW Hollywood Studios. But, CP doesnt exactly have unlimited space to expand (due to the fact theyre on a narrow peninsula), so the bigger question becomes, what do they remove to make room for whatever they build?

Next dumb question. What is a dark ride? Also, i live in Cleveland, and I'm not a geologist, however, for some reason, every single beach from here to Sandusky (including CP's) has significantly reduced. More than half the beaches I took my 10 year old to up until he was 5 are no longer habitable, recreationally, or otherwise.

I’m waiting until 2025 to ride this coaster, for a few reasons. My wife is really busy with school this year so we won’t have the time to make it to cedar point. If I’m going to cedar point I don’t want to go for just 1-2 days. I need at least 3 days minimum at that park lol. The second reason is I’d like to wait and see how it performs for its first season. If they have a ton of kinks to work out and the ride is down frequently, that would just put a damper on things. I’m really hoping it does well this year and love that Zamperla is going out of their comfort zone in tackling a project of this size!

If this thing can be up and running 90-94% of the time, I say HUGE Success. Will probably take those ride ops teams about a month to get operations down and as efficient as possible. There is a risk but if Zamperla and Cedar Point can pull this off. Zamperla becomes a major player. What intrigues me MUCH MORE is how is Falcon's Flight going to do at Six Flags Quiddiya?

I predict many saying it was good, although they miss elements of how it used to be. I also predict extremely long lines, to the point that appointments may have to be made, and not only because of its popularity. The new ride only adds one hill to the entire track, which is at its beginning. The initial launch will be far less intense than what the original was, to avoid clearing the hill, and this part will be missed by most. That sudden acceleration was the ride, with that hill being the icing on the cake. Now that sudden acceleration no longer exists, as it was. While one train is launching on the ride, a second train is packed and waiting to start. That second train will now have to wait an additional 20 to 35 seconds before it can be cleared to enter the track. The second train can not enter the track until the first train has cleared that hill. This is what is going to cause the extreme wait times. And this issue is why many rides that launch like this (not all of them) have failed. I have personally seen 2 fail in the park in my area, over the many years. Deja Vu and Viper. Although those have only one track, and the guests had to wait for the ride to finish before they could change over. So it may not be as bad with Top Thrill 2, it will still be very noticeable. That extra wait time would likely limit the ride to only 3 trains. Due to that extra 20 to 35 second delay the First train would be back at the station before the second one has even topped the rear hill. There would not be any more time available to have 4. One train would be launching, while the Second one is loading and waiting to launch, and the 3rd is unloading guests.

I think your capacity speculations are incorrect... Millennium has a theoretical capacity of 1,200. Given timing, my rough guess from real videos is roughly 1,400. Given the train can begin they cycle earlier than original TTD. As soon as the train passes the crest of the top hat, the next train can make it through the switch and begin the cycle.

TT2 will be a success , but not for the reasons you think , business wise it will be a success , but for the coaster enthusiasts it will be a big a step down. TTD used to be a flawed coaster indeed in the sense that it was a maintenance nightmare , but that launch was what made this ride special , and not just a glorified drop tower. Now that they changed the launch into a swing launch that element of this ride will be gone , its still gonna be a very awesome experience but in my opinion it goes from one one of the parks best coasters (top 3/4 ride) to probably somewhere around the 8-10th best coaster in the park. We still need to wait and see of course , but everyone is acting like this is going to be an improvement , while for cedar point it just a way to bring new life into a coaster that they would probably had to scrap anyways for maintenance cost and incidents alone. Its great that they decided to give it a second life in a new role but don't get your hopes up to much, it will never be as good as it used to be.

This is why they started testing before hand. It will be way more reliable then the cable launch. Imo you are more on the intamin bandwagon then having a company to come, clean up the mess intamin gave CP and make a name for themselves if and when Triple T is successful.

This is a Double edged sword and here is how ... Everything is determined on Reliability. Because if it is Reliable... People will be drawn to it while lines at other coasters will thin out. The CAPACITY issue is the BIGGEST issue. This coaster needs more than 3 Trains. A Single rider lane is a Must. Let's just hope that this coaster is a Huge Hit! And I can't wait to see what's down the road.

I don't think there's going to be any increased risk of an accident on Top Thrill 2. Every previous incident where someone was injured by the ride was directly cause by the cable launch. Unless there's a defect in Zamperla's trains or LSMs, it should be just as safe as Fury 325 😅

Everyone is so worried TT2 was reimagined by Zamperla. And even Brandon mentioned their tallest was 115 ft and 50 something MPH. Look at Intamin's original body of work. Family rides, bobsleds, Stand-Ups, and wooden coasters. The biggest was American Eagle. Then they rolled out Superman escape from krypton. So every manufacturer has to take their plunge. I'm not worried about Zamperla considering Dragster was barely up more than it was down during its entire run.

Not 100% sure I will find the experience to be pleasant. Backwards is not a thing for me, so I may hate it. Wait and see, Not that many rides I can do any more, since I'm 76 and most of the coasters are too rough for me. Project for losing 50 lbs over winter is nearing completion, so maybe that will take some of the stress off. But I really enjoyed the 0 to 100+ mph of the old ride, not sure this will satisfy.

I worry most about the ride experience being a let down - I would be really surprised if I like this version as much as the original. The first launch on Dragster was the best in the world that I had experienced...now I'm not even sure the first launch on TT2 will be the best in the park. This ride will probably suffer from people comparing to the original, even if I know there are people out there who weren't fans of Dragster that may prefer TT2.

I don't know why you mention safety. Zamperla is a huge upgrade from Intamin. Intamin coasters and rides have ejected riders, severed limbs, thrown shrapnel, and drown guests. One of their coaster cars even caught on fire with guests aboard. The only coaster manufacturer that rivaled Intamin's body count is Schwarzkopf. It will be a success, I’m hoping to grind the crap out of Maverick and steel vengeances this year with everyone else glued to TT2. Tony and cedar fair are gonna get so much hate from the GP and coaster enthusiasts if this ride is not a success.

What do you mean you're not psychic?! I totally thought you were. Bwahahaha jk. I think TT2 will be successful... eventually. I would expect issues with the launch system for sure. I have no idea how the new trains will behave. We may see some excessive wheel wear maybe. I'm just guessing though As far as ride experience goes. I think everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised. The launch will have a punch but the highlight will be the sense of speed between the spine and the top hat. I think that will blow peoples minds. Anywho. Hope you're well and thanks for another good discussion vid!

I feel you need to clarify a few things as far as "age" is concerned when considering "who" CP is .... 20 years is literally NOTHING as far as age. You will have Millenium Force still in operation since 2000 and the Magnum XL-200 built in 1989 still in operation. If you're talking about "launched" coasters, that's one thing; but if you are going by age alone - 20 years is nothing.

Really think this will be the biggest let down in coaster history. The original was not even good. At least not good enough for anything longer than a station wait. The only fun part was the powerful launch. Now we have no powerful launch. We have fewer trains and a longer cycle time, I don't see any way this ride will improve on the terrible experience TTD was infamous for giving CP guests. I also think that if Intamin couldn't figure that thing out after 20 years of trying, there's a pretty slim chance Zamperla's going to do any better...
