@@charlesfenwick6554 Isn't that a good thing? It means that our knowledge of the past has significantly improved in the past 4 decades. If it wasn't that should be a great shame to all the principles of science and all involved in it's mission.

@@artofthepossible7329 You can even be corrected yourself - regarding the apostrophe in your last-but-one word.

@Hans- you too. Native English speakers say “second to last” word, or “penultimate” word, instead of “last but one” or whatever your phrasing was. No offense, and I wouldn’t trip nor take it personally if you were to correct my grammar. It’s good to admit your mistakes and improve yourself (not just in writing but in all fields of human endeavor). Usually it’s just children and narciSsists and megalomaniacs etc that don’t admit their mistakes and flaunt and humble brag about their so-called perfection/lack of error.

For Americans that might be confused when the term 'corn'; everywhere else in the world with possible exception of Australia, corn is just a catch-all term for cereal grains. It's not maize, that'd be North American corn. It confused me when I first read Caesar's Commentaries and he mentions needing to acquire corn for the legions since I understood corn to be native to the Americas.

You might be able to download the free audio-manipulation program Audacity. This could allow you to record the audio of videos (if not in a better way then perhaps bluntly by recording the sound from the speakers of a computer to the latter's microphone, through the air). Opening the recording in Audacity then would enable you to change the _tempo_ (rather than the "speed") of the entire file or of parts of it under "Effects", after you have marked all or parts of the file by clicking into a sound wave the program displays (and dragging the cursor sideways).

@@adrianhilltobar3690 Mr Tobar please read comment I posted above. Africa has had many cultures that were far above just "hunting and gathering", they had domesticated animals and some farming. Africa, in the south, had sufficient resources readily available and sparce population so that settlements were not common. As much as I have enjoyed Mr Durant's work for more than 30 yrs, he has ignored Latin America. Maybe if you read a bit about the rich cultures that have developed in Africa, especially Ghana, next time you will may not state that "there was nothing civil" in Africa. You would be amazed at the spoken literature and art in these "nothing civil" cultures. The definitions of culture and civilization have been debated for many years.
