Clearly none of you people know what actually happened you even bothered to look it up. Enoch Burke loudly, aggressively expressed his opinion. His boss said they will discuss it later, he didn't like that, and he followed her around screaming his beliefs and causing a scene. He was suspended for his obnoxious and unprofessional behaviour. He refused to stay away from the school and they were forced to ask the court to order him to stay away. He wouldn't do that and got arrested for failing to follow the court order. This has literally NOTHING to do with his religious beliefs. This is harassment and borderline stalking. And yet he's manipulating the public and crying religious persecution. It's pathetic.

Once he broke the restraining order he became a criminal. If you want a functioning society court orders need to respected otherwise its anarchy. If you want to be selective on the enforcement of this restraining order you are opening the door for abusive partners to be selective on respecting a restraining order, its the same laws in play. In this instance there are 400 children together with their parents and the schools staff suffering from his antics which the court order prohibits. He has been given every opportunity to purge his contempt with a simple undertaking. No one to blame but himself . Its not unusual treatment for repeat offences, being released without the undertaking is unusual.

@@Athena621 they've already dismissed him. He's getting paid because he still has an appeal in progress. Normally this would be finalised earlier but litigation has probably slowed the process. I have seen an employee return to work nearly 12 mths after being unjustly fired and it caused his family great hardship because he wasn't paid in that time. Ideally anyone should be paid until its finalised. The appeal is unlikely to succeed, in fact I think it has no chance.

@@paulmayo2948 He hasn't been dismissed. He has been suspended on full pay pending the outcome of an investigation which is completely normal. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is still employed by the school and entitled to collect his wages until told otherwise. If the school doesn't succeed then he will be entitled to return to work and pursue the school / state for being imprisoned for failing to comply with orders that breached his constitutional rights. This is the elephant in the room everyone wants addressed. Courts seem to be scrambling last few years to hope it goes away in my opinion. Enoch is not for moving by the looks of it.

His constitutional right to freedom of religion remains unaffected and is why his appeals have failed so far, he argues freedom of religion when he was not fired for his religion but a behavioural incident. If Mx Burke doesn't show up each and every school day (even if he simply stands on the walkway at the entrance of the school grounds) it may well be that the school authorities will eventually consider him to be absent without leave. This, in turn, could lead to his ultimate dismissal except where/when he is indisposed as a result of incarceration directly relating to the matter. It could well be that he needs to continue being salaried by the school so that he can provide an ongoing (albeit very small) contribution to the legal services people, in order for him to continue being funded in relation to legal representation. Now I'm wondering if he could take a vow of silence on religious grounds, and then return to his teaching position. He could insist that his refusal to talk to anyone at the school is legitimate, based on the adherence to his (newly formed) religious belief.

I actually agree that he may well have a grievance with the way the school dealt with him at the beginning of this saga, but things have moved on a lot now that the courts have become involved and made judgements. If he put so much store on the use of nouns and pronouns and how the use of these might undermine his born again fundamentalist (BAFs) christian faith, he must also have refused to call any Roman Catholic priest visiting the school by his common form of address of Father X, as the BAFs interpret scripture literally (hence why Burke and his family vilify LGBT+ people) and they claim Matt 23:8 prohibits this. Now, either Burke adheres rigidly to his convictions and refuses to address the priests as Fr as well as maintaining his anti-lgbt+ stance or only adheres to his anti-lgbt+ bias and shows himself for the homophobe he is! He can't have it both ways
