Hi, couldn't help but comment on your speed issue, your leg muscles are the key, just look at the pros finishing a stage, their leg muscle above the knee are well defined, move your seat foward and concentrate on pointing your toes down a few degrees more than usual. The burn will build strength

Those low profile rims will not slow you down. Your set point will be set after you do 100 (6 mile) intervals at 85% max HR. :)

We just put wider tires; increased from 23 to 28. I picked up about 1.2 mph on 100 mile rides and shorter. But that could be because I wasn’t as tired from bouncing around. 😅

Are you using the same tube and tire as before? What wheelset did you have before?

You were using Continentals before. Now Gatorskins. Gatorskins are Contintentals.

Bill is going to go back to the workshop and pull the old ones out and see because we can’t remember. The wheelset was whatever came on the bike originally, the Specialized Robaix. You are absolutely correct about the tube and tire! Good eye!

How long did it take to get to your set point?

Not long, a couple weeks of hard work. I think it was a combination of the wheels, but also my mental belief that it could now be accomplished. I’m still eager to see how high I can push that setpoint! Our next goal is 18.4.
