Top work! There's certainly a sweet spot in the ratio between diameter and wall thickness. Thin walled larger diameter is really tricky to bend with this method as you found out!

A little tip I do when drilling something out like you did with the hand drill. Grind the drill with a negative or neutral rake like for brass. Doesn’t drill great in steel but won’t dig in. Obviously resharpen it after 😜

Another amazing video. Bending thin wall tubing is such a nightmare, I am surprised at how well it handled it. I bet if you continued to work on the bullet size/location you could get that dialed in, but I'm sure the trial and error would take forever, and you'd still end up with thin wall tubing with not a lot of uses. I am curious how it bends .120 wall with no bullet. I would imagine it would be a clean looking bend with minimal deflection, but who knows. I would love to have something like this for bending .080-.100 wall tubing for projects that don't require roll cage specs. Keep up the good work my friend!
@VinyB572 жыл бұрын
Hey Austin, to answer your question about .120 without bullet, well I did the test on the video built at 14:00 and we can clearly see a difference (without it's flattened). So I thing that the thicker the side wall is, lesser you really need a bullet, but since I'm getting good results with it, I'm always using it! BTW, it seems that the algorythm is no working for the both of us since a couple of vids! 😭 Don't know what I'm doing wrong (except not releasing a lot of vids)..but ya it s*cks! Oh well talk to you soon-issh my friend!

Very good stuff. Currently trying to figure a way to build a bender for 1 5/8" (10 gauge wall) tube. That's the size of locally available chain link fence posts that I'm hoping to use to bend bicycle frames. One question - I see you use a rolling wiper die rather than a solid bar type. Any particular reason for this? Seems to me the bar type might have some advantages to help maintain pipe shape. Subscribed. Thanks!

Wait, why did you not turn the pneumatic Jack 180° around so the air to hydrolic pump was on the outside rather than the inside of the bender?
@VinyB572 жыл бұрын
Good call, but the jack is not symmetrical and everything is shifted to one side (die, lower roller, bullet attachment etc). If I flipped the jack 180°, I'll need to switch everything to the other side, which was a lot of work, I wish I could send you a picture of it! But again, good thinking! 👍

Hey Viny , I need your help again , I made a mistake when I purchased my external gearbox which gave me reverse , it was meant for off road use only , so I ran into the same problem you had without a differential one of the wheels was binding when making a turn and I thought of you , so I met this retired machinist and he's helping with my rear end problem ! we're using a Miata diff and stub axles , and he's making a casing for it and a cradle so I can mount it ! I told him about your reverse setup he's picking up a 9 inch ring gear but he's wondering what controls the speed of the starter ? I told him when you push the reverse button it backed you up slow in the video, he was thinking that with a starter motor it might be too fast when it engages , do you have a resonator on yours , or what starter do I need to make this work !! Thank You Mr. B
@VinyB572 жыл бұрын
Hey Alan! Oh boy! The reverse is the worst part of the build. First, I double checked it and my gear is an 11.5'' in DIA and I don't have much power on the reverse. So your 9'' is maybe not enough 🤷♂Maybe my starter motor is a really bad quality (brand new on amazon for a V8) and is not that powerfull, but don't even think about baking up through a slight little hill. Ain't gonna make it! My car is about 1800lbs with me in it, so if you're half that weight, maybe it will work, but don't worry, you ain't gonna fly off in reverse! If you want my dxf file of the gear I design and laser cutted, hit me at my email, design57@outlook.com Also, the reverse is waaaaaaaaaay easier on the starter motor once you have add the diff...
