Will it run? 1979 Wheel Horse mower first start after 10 years

In this video I try to start a 42 years old mower. It's a WHEEL HORSE B-111 model equipped with 11HP Briggs & Stratton.

I've used a piece of cardboard when putting ignition coil back on. Has worked for me.

Interesting that it had a solid state coil and a modern starter in 1979. Seems surprisingly quiet.

Nice job getting that old WH going, they're great little tractors! The reason it was so hard to start is probably that one of the valves was open for ten years and some corrosion built up on the seat causing it to lose compression. I didn't see you remove the main jet when you did the carb, that's under the tube that goes into the carb bowl from the body of the carb. You adjust the main jet (on the bowl) at high speed and the low speed jet is on top of the carb.

@@giacomosavio8483 You will be happy on how this machine will cut grass as it has a rear discharge mower deck on it. They do a beautiful job, and they throw out the grass in the rear of the tractor which makes it a nicer, cleaner cut and look to your lawn. The thing I don't understand though is when trying to start this machine, if it has a fuel pump, check it or replace it, number one, number two, you, can, spray starting fluid into the spark plug chamber, being the fact that you indeed have spark, however you also can use carburator cleaner to spray into the chamber as it will also aid in starting the engine to. I've been told that eather is fine, however it also can have the tendency to knock out your piston and rings, whare as carburator cleaner, will not damage the inter combustion chamber components, yet, give you that extra push to get her started and running once again. The way I was taught though you never crank your throttle full blast, just maybe a bit more than quarter amount with the use of the choke, and once started, and running and warming up, then you increase the throttle a little more to operating running conditions and with the power take off belt properly in place, blades sharpened, greesed on the spindles, etc., shes ready to mow when you have the RPM'S up to cut grass with. Think that this mower deck is a 38 inch mower deck, which tells me it might have two mower deck blades which are really great to mow grass with, and as stated, the rear discharge, makes this tractor even a more valuable piece of machinery here. This is a Briggs and Stratton engine, good engines, however, I'm more a fan of Kohler engines. Either way, you've got yourself a real nice gem of a tractor here. Best to you always.
