Man I remember this time, when GUIs were a canvas for developers to showcase their artistic side. Saw all kinds of wacky shaped buttons and windows and progress bars. Futuristic gradients, drop shadows, glows, and embossing. What a classic era.

That loud whining sound was the hard drive attempting to free itself from being stuck plus it sounded like the click of death it's highly rare if you could open the drive and get it to spin again and even if it gets to spin again if it's still clicking and doesn't start up or the laptop says something is wrong with the drive then the disk is unusable unless ya replace the HDD control board with a replacement one exactly for it

This brings back memories! I used to use that wallpaper or the moon wallpaper as default when setting up systems for new users at work.

Huh. I’ve had one of those Latitudes and the M700. The Compaq was my primary laptop in my first year of university (it was used by that point). Good memories.

if you think about it ( seeing that ten year old computer running ) what has really changed - it seems the world just made everything more complicated just to sell us new junk when the old junk could do what we needed all along - even a windows 2000 machine can surf the net - do youtube - social media - email - word possessor and spread sheet - banks and other businesses use out dated ( so called ) computers and we have to buy the latest - i wonder if a modern computer would start after a decade of sleep

Contrary to popular belief, Microsoft has been supporting XP with updates all the way up until June of 2019. There's a simple trick to make XP think it's the Point Of Sale version, which Microsoft had been supporting all this time. Works great and there's no noticeable difference between the POS version and regular XP. People are still maintaining browsers for XP as well in the form of New Moon, a fork of Pale Moon, which is a fork of FireFox. Even FireFox releases a version for XP that gets security updates. Change for the sake of change is always about money. Yeah, Windows 10 has this bell and that whistle, but does anyone really care? Business people use their business software and most consumers use web browsers for everything.

Yep I just found mine so I wanted to see if anyone else was crazy enough to try to get this thing to work. Ha ha. Good times good times. Was fun using this back in the day to capture random stuff when we didn't have any better way to really do it.

Why of course Snappy 4.0 is better than 3.0. I spent a few months fixing the bugs in 3.0 to create 3.1 before then creating 4.0. Did you know the photos on the Snappy box were actually captured using Snappy? Remember this was largely before digital (photo) cameras, and as you mentioned, before individuals had scanners. A lot of people did have camcorders though so Snappy was a game changer for early ebay sellers, etc. Play Inc sold a LOT of Snappy Video Snapshots and it funded the company for several years and made a few people very rich (Lamborghini's, etc) while other professional/prosumer video production products were brought to market. It also created a new category of product and several knockoffs were produced. One even used knobs very similar to the godawful ones on Snappy. LOL.

Files saved in .bmp ? If I remember correctly, I used to snap about a 100 images and fill up an Iomega Zip disk. lol

Hey Steve, i got the hobby cnc stepper motor controller. 3 205oz stepper motors. 3amps a peice. Is a 15 amp 24volt power supply enough to run it? Trying to find out my problem getting my motors to run. Was wondering what your homemade power supply puts out.

1:30 wait what? the XPi CD has a CD drive dude, it's even in the name. "CD". It's right above the floppy drive. you poked it with your finger at 1:14. that button opens it. wtf.
