The day with Derek is finally happening! Brian was the winner of $3,000 VGG cash, $2,000 in ‪@oreillyautoparts‬ gift cards, and $1,000 towards charity from VGG. A guys traveled all the way to CT to try revive this 1955 Chevrolet Belair 2 door hardtop, that's been sitting in a garage for 37 years. This car is very rare - and one of only a few hundred completely assembled in Mexico! Let's see if we can get it back on the road!

Just love this! It's pretty crazy he bought that at 19 and just parked it all this time. That's a fantastic 55 and thanks to your awesome generosity, it's FINALLY drivable again and perfect for bringing the rest of the way around! Really hope he keeps going with it - a future update would be awesome! My uncle purchased a 1956 BelAir 2-door in 1956. He drove it until racking up 320k miles (going through three 6-cylinder engines in the process - no oil filter), and then gave it to my cousin to use as a high school car in 1965. My cousin's first order of business to was to swap out the straight 6 for a 283 corvette motor, ran that for a while and then around 1972, installed a 427 big block and Muncie 4-speed! It was his daily driver until he bought a '72 Corvette in 1974 that took over daily duties. The '56 has sat off and on over the years but he STILL occasionally drives that '56 to this day, with that same 427 ... at 75 years old! (still owns the Vette as well) To make the story even sweeter, in addition to being a total gear head, my cousin was also a bit of a camera buff so there are plenty of pictures documenting the entire life-long process!

Loved this episode! My dad had a red and white 55 with Cragars, also had louvres in the hood and trunk lid. Bryan’s 55 has the same driver door squeak love that sound really takes me back to car show days with my dad❤️ thanks Derek! P.s. to everyone complaining about Bryan not being on camera get over it! If I had to take an educated guess he is probably a service member, probably a police officer of some sort and wants to remain private.

Dont flame me - I dont work on cars anymore but I have a 40-foot gas powered dual 496 boat I have been wrenching on for 20 years. I watch VGG because it is motivating to see a guy "fight the fight", drop things never to be found again, and smash up hands, elbows, knees and spine on old junk.... LOL. Love the "ever wonder why you do what you????" . For me, my insanity is a big hole in the water that makes no sense to anyone but me. Rock on VGG!

My daily driver is a 2010 Chevy HHR; may not be anything to write home about but it has served me well for the past nine years and nearly 300,000 miles. I don't know how many modern cars have switched back to the cartridge in canister oil filter but I like it. That was new to me with this car but it is easy to reach from the top and a quick change.

The last car my mother bought was a 1995 Buick Regal. Those 3800's will last forever and ever but the oil filter; near top on the back of a transverse mounted V6 but you have to change it from the bottom.

My dad had a 1957 210 BelAir with a 283 4 speed manual when he was a teenager and that's how him and my mom met, drag racing each other, but my mom was driving my grandma's Ford station wagon with a big block. They were neck and neck coming up Fallston Hill and when it came together into one lane my mom shoved my dad up into the Patterson Heights Golf Course in Beaver Falls, PA...😂😂😂 My mom took off, but she met up with my dad again because he was a bass player in a local soul band. He said hi to her while walking off stage and the rest is history...that was 1968 and I wasn't born until 1983, but I have two older sisters and I'm the only son.

2:08:38 Didja know that if you lose one of those keepers and have no way to get another one right now, you can make one out of a penny? Put the penny on top of some rotten wood, bang a regular screwdriver into it kind of at an angle until you get a slot cut through, then bang the screwdriver straight down to make a depression at 90 degrees from the slot, to hold the pin from twisting and coming out. I did that one time, then drove from Dallas to Duluth with it. My lucky penny.
