In todays episode grandpa teaches me to use the tire machine and I help him get his 1974 Chevy C10 running. Unfortunately this will be the end of the line for the truck, maybe the drive line will live on and go into another truck or project. Grandpa is a legend. As you know we all love grandpa. You're lucky to have someone that loves you and knows as much as he does and is willing to teach you. Enjoy it while you can brother. I love when he said.,I used to be able to pick up a tire like that. Now, I can barely pick up my pants. 😂😂

Ah, the good old C10, I had one once, the engine was so worn out it fouled the plugs faster than it could fire. The COATS 10-10, a great old machine for steel wheels! Sure does take some work to get the rust off the tire beads. That's a good cautionary tale from your grandpa, don't put fingers in dangerous pinch-points! All that rust is just weight-reduction! It'll get great mileage now! It's a great runner alright!

Grandpa was not kidding about having all the tools he needed in Old Red. On a Sunday drive, we stopped to see Grandpa's mother in Wyoming, IA. While there, he decided to raise Mom's barn. Hadn't planned to do that, but he found every tool he needed (including 4 - 6 car jacks.) to do the job. I was impressed! 🙂Mrs. Grandpa

Your grandpa and my daddy would be best friends. My daddy had a 74 Custom Deluxe for decades, and only just retired his 8N a few years ago. I loved seeing that old-style tire machine get put to use. I worked at an NTB in my younger years (back when they were NTW) and was one of the few guys who knew how to use the old tire machine. Everyone else was spoiled by the new rim clamps. But when some punk would tear a few low-pro tires and cuss up a blue streak on the rim clamp, I would take over the ticket and have all four mounted with old machine in only 10 minutes. Also, what the heck were they doing at KOAs back in the 70's? We used to travel by RV back then and avoided KOA unless there was no other choice. They were expensive and every little thing was a nickel and dime upcharge, even using the air conditioner! They would drive around at night in a golf cart and police the people who had air conditioners running and had not paid the upcharge to use AC. We tried hard to find friendly little mom-and-pop roadside RV parks instead.

First off, I can definitely see the family resemblance between you and your grandfather. Second off, I'm a bit fascinated with that tire machine, especially since I was taught and raised on how to use a machine very similar to a May M-62-B Tire Matic Tire Changer (yes I had to look it up since I didn't know what the machine was called, all I knew was it's main design).

Hi there if l were you l will keep that truck and restore it for your grandpa little by little and aftermarket's parts are cheap and you can do a lot of videos on this truck but what really important here is your grandpa has a lot off stories behind this truck and you should sit with him and let him bring back everything he can remembers and be honest l wouldn't get ride of his tools in the truck . This truck deserves new life .

I'm originally from northeast Ohio (the heart of the rust belt), and I've never seen a Chevy truck this rusty before---mind blown. The trans doesn't have a lot of value because it's a long tailshaft model, but the 350 4 bbl sure does....in fact, it's possible that it could be a 4 bolt main block since it's in a truck

One point...oil those hood hinges! Those old square bodies came from the factory with a huge design flaw that allowed the hoods to buckle if the hinges got stiff. When those trucks were popular it wasn't uncommon to see a lot of them with buckled hoods.
