I am 67years old and this brings back so many memories. I would not change a thing with the running gears it so vintage and shows what we had to work with when things were not plentiful as they are today. Love listening to your grandpa tell his stories! Thanks

I wouldn’t change a single thing. I have my grandfathers truck, and it has a ford 400 boat anchor engine….. it’ll get rebuilt before I swap it for something he didn’t put in it himself. Love it man…. Good content right here.

My first thought, my granddad biked out to people just after wwii, fixing people's radios, and later on when people got TVs in their livingrooms that too. He ran papers for the resistance etc. He let me screw on old radios and learn when I was a kid. He always was a good teacher. I looked over his shoulder when he fixed the family's tvs and radios. He died last year 93 year old. married to my grandma for 72½ years. Yeah, I NEVER ONCE heard them fight og use high voices. neither did my Mother and my Mother's Sister. ❤💪That's love all the way through life. My grandma still lives, love them both endlesly

Man treasure every moment you ca get like this. What a story, what a car. PS my vote is leave her heart in her, she has been good to the family and deserves to stay… PPS if that air compressor is 100 years old take a good look at that tank, make sure it’s not rusting internally. They tend to pop after a while.

Great video, I first seen that car sitting in that exact spot over 37 years ago and it’s the first time I ever seen it move. And of course once an automotive teacher ALWAYS a automotive teacher. My first automotive lesson was in that driveway and it was changing the master cylinder on my little red ford pickup. Good job John, keep the videos coming 👍

I lost my grandpa April of this year. He would tell me stories about all his old cars. Being ripped through the driver's window by a cop after getting pulled over, or losing his clutch coming back from work and rebuilding it under a light pole on a bridge. Great stories and memories

You're so lucky to still have your Grandfather he's a really cool guy. I miss mine so much, he used to tell me stories about his Model As, '49 Ford, '58 Meteor. It would be sweet of you put a roller cam 351w in there. Just to keep the theme of a Ford in a Chevy if the Flattie isn't in the cards anymore. Great stuff, I'm also here for the mustache...I have my mullet twerking and my stache rockin'. 🤣😂😎🚬

It's really cool that you can work on things with your grandpa. Two things I noticed immediately about this video. First, a 50 minute video, which I believe is longer than normal. Second, an opening theme song and video sequence. It looks like you're upping your production quality. Congrats, as it's a skill and may pay off for the channel.

That, fuel pump is for an FE Ford engine I used to have an old 62 galaxy! It was one of the best cars I ever owned! I got a newspaper, ran through the want ads, and found one for a 1962 Ford Galaxy. Transmission slips engine smokes fifty dollars I was driving my boss' 1948 Ford wrecker , so i gave the man 2, 20 dollar bills and a sawbuck to go with them. Stopped at the parts store and bought a vacuum modulator, left it on the wrecker, slid underneath and popped the modulator in and snugged it down. It smoked like a cotton mill for a few minutes and quit smoking. I drove that old Ford for ten years, painted it red, and sold it for for $3500.00, bought a 62 Falcon, and dropped a 427 Side Oiler Ford engine in it!

In the 1960's I delivered newspapers in the evening. One person who got their paper delivered had a 1937 Stude coupe which had a GMC 302 six. He sold the car to young guy just starting an apprenticeship at the local Ford dealers . He had found a rebuilt 59A flattie in the company's spare parts department, and that got installed in the coupe. I had flatties later on and still like them .

If you kept the Flattie, to make it more capable of modern speeds I believe a T-5 manual with Overdrive can be adapted to those so you can cruise 70mph at safer rpms. I think that a 3.8/3.9 OHV V6 Mustang has a T-5 that would work.

Memories! I vote for your G'dads 302 idea if you have to replace the motor. From '74 through '81 me, and what I claimed as my brother, road hunted fence rows in N.E. Mo. and bought every '34-'49 GM worth dragging out of the fields. We'd buy every 289-302 motor and automatic from every junkyard we could get our hands on. Yep, they went in all those chevys, ponchos, buicks-and were put in right-wasn't any cobbling like your G'dads car was when he dragged it home. I know one '39 chevy, 4 door(suicide rears)was still on the road 3 years ago. Wasn't the only conversions we did, lot of others. Neighbor blew his '66 GTO, girlfriend totaled the '70 Road Runner he then bought to drive. Wasn't anything hurt with the 440 and 727 so in the GTO they went. His G'daughter drives that car today. Farmall F-20's, only chevy powerplants we every used. Old 283's and 327's nearly bolted into them. New sub, going to be a loyal viewer-great content. Followed you from Junkyard Digs and the Stang II episode.

I must say when I finally get a video recommendation from your channel I'm rarely disappointed! How precious are our grandpas! Out Grandmas and the relationships we have with them! They are filled with more love and understanding than we even are thinking they know about. But they do and they want to give it! The wealth of knowledge and time he has to give to spend with his grandson is precious to him as well. He wants a good life for his grandson and can maybe not make the mistakes he made with his son and/or daughter! That's what they/we become as we learn life is for love not for ourselves but for loving those we love! If you know Jesus you will know you will see him again! Have a good look into the bible and find out what the truth of this life actually is! It's Love!

OMG John, this was my first ever day on your channel thanks to your colab with JYD and the 'Dorito' snowmobile by ARTICAT'. This was just so endearing to us old guys. Thanks John for taking us with you and your Gramps. Please don't remove that flathead form this Chevy. I guess if it is too worn out to be useful we would understand, but isn't there a chance to have it refreshed and kept as the powerplant bc of HIS'story is or would be just too much of a loss once you R&R the flathead. It sounded like it was or is a nice running powerplant.

Seeing the hole in the lower part of the grill for the hand crank used to start the engine reminds me of a joke my Dad love to tell. Johnny shared to the class that on the way to school today we hit a pig running down the road and the hand crank went up the pigs ass. The teacher said "Johnny we don't use that word, we say rectum". Johnny said, "RECTUM?, Hell it killed him". Dad would have been 99 last week. Thank you for the video I enjoyed it.
