Dear Joanna and Nick, a nice video with a good outcome this time. During the trip, I always thought that maybe a hay bale would fall down. Sometimes it wobbled 😬 and the drive around the curve was hard. You both did a good job 🤗 Kind wishes, Gerold and Ilse

At 12 years old I learned to drive on an International B250 tractor pulling a hay trailer very similar to yours. We had a hay elevator that hooked onto the side of the trailer and we’d just drive along the rows of bales with the elevator picking the bales up and lifting them up as high as you wanted to stack them. We’d normally stack 6 or 7 layers on the trailer at 25 bales per layer. Hay season in mid summer here in Australia was always rotten hot.
@JohntyNich Жыл бұрын
There’s a knack to stacking them that high though a bit trickier hand balling them up!

Hi Nick and jo, safe bale handling on trailer, build with bales length way on outside runners and cross ways in middle first row, then 2 or 3 across the front the second row and then as first row, this should break your joints and tie all bales together. This allows you to build a square stack and more on the trailer and safer to transport. Good job done though. Haymaking as a child was my highlight of the farming year and my job to stack the trailer ftom the age of 11 until I was 21.

Hey casto, I was meaning to ask you about the string method to get post heights. Not sure I've seen that. Obviously not related to this video.
@casto- Жыл бұрын
@@nickj5488 it’s just rather than a measuring stick/tape measure. Get a piece of string with a weight on the end (better a chain to be fair) the same length as the height of the post and attach it to the striking plate. It also gives you a plum line in the same way. Hope that makes sense😆🤦♂️
