Maybe an extra egg?

I love the recipe ideas you share with us. Chestnuts are not readily available here but seeing you said Almonds could work instead, I will give it a try with almonds. Maybe with some pecans mixed in for a more interesting flavour. Or Hazelnuts… 😊

waffles made with almond flour are delicious.

I totally get how you feel that coffee is not a fruit spread, I felt that way too BUT the coffee "bean" is actually a berry as I understand it now. Still, a waste of a good space in your calendar box. This series was a great idea, fun to watch!

yes, technically coffee comes from a fruit, but I’m not a coffee fan and even little amounts of caffeine can keep me awake the entire night. thanks for watching!

They've always included a non-fruit spread in the calendar. It used to be honey, and I think one year they had a chestnut thing and one year was chocolate? Or maybe it was a chocolate chestnut thing. I don't remember off-hand. I don't think any more of the calendar will be non-fruit, though. Those waffles looked awesome. I'd love to know where to buy the chestnuts, I've never seen them in the store before.

Yeah, I love when the have the little jar of honey. That is always my sweetener of choice. I wish they included that every year but each year a different flavor of honey. Two years ago I had an advent calendar that was 25 different types of honey. It was so good! I get the chestnuts at my local supermarkets. They are also sold in health food stores.

@@CounterCooking Just as an off chance I did a search for roasted chestnuts on my local grocery store's website and came up with the same brand you were using. I'm so glad I saw this video! I'm gonna have to get some now. :)

Now that was really cool! I could actually eat those waffles. I don't eat grain flours and I've never heard of roasted chestnuts in a bag. I'm going to have to see if I can find them here. Thank you. Oh! My mini things should be here before the beginning of next year. I am so-o- looking forward to trying some of your recipes. ♥

I spent quite a few years not eating grains so I’ve learned to be creative with other ingredients and different nut flours. I normally eat the chestnuts right out of the bag as a snack. they’re really good.

I’m so pleased that you’re doing this! I have the 12 days of Christmas Bonne Maman advent calendar and I’m not proud to admit that I peeked at the back of the box…this spread is in mine. I HATE coffee and anything to do with it, so I was kind of stumped. My husband is a coffee lover so I’ll fob it off on him. Not sure I’m ambitious enough to make these, maybe he’ll get buckwheat waffles!❤
@CounterCooking2 күн бұрын
maybe you’ll like it because it doesn’t really taste much like coffee. Buckwheat waffles would be a good pairing for it.

I've never had chestnuts! I wonder if I could do the same thing with Almonds? Or another nut? I got one of the Bonne Maman calendars and it was so hard to get the jars out that I ended up just ripping the darn thing open and taking out all the jars 😆 I haven't tried the Caramel Coffee spread because I don't like the flavor of coffee but maybe I should just to see what it's like.
@CounterCooking3 күн бұрын
I've made waffles and pancakes with almond flour and they come out great. You should give the caramel coffee spread a try because you might like it.

Also, for $40 or so for this calendar you would think that they’d make it so it doesn’t fragment apart like this. I can tell you aren’t ripping the thing apart roughly or anything. They should design it better in case you wanted to keep it as a keepsake
@CounterCooking2 күн бұрын
I don’t mind it ripping apart because the little jars have been really easy to remove this year. Usually it’s more difficult to get the jars out.

The spread sounded amazing until you said it tasted like licorice. The waffles look amazing! Tfs. 👋🏼

I would’ve been much happier if it was a caramel chocolate spread. 😁

I would have never thought of that chestnut waffle idea. I'm looking forward to trying it. Today's spread doesn't interest me, though.

sometimes what you put the spread on makes all the difference. 😁

I don’t mean to be critical, I love your channel, I am a widow in my late seventies and love my Dash appliances and your single serve recipes. But, I am half french Canadian. Bonne, which is the feminine version, is pronounced “bun”. Your pronunciation “bone” ( bon) is the masculine. Just saying…

I don't pronounce it like a French Canadian. I pronounce it with my New York Accent. Just saying...
