ehh this is an old video, atbthe time levy was putting all of his openings online and was teaching lower level chess, himaru said once he focuses on classical chess and not play so timid against GMs he can def do it. Like rn hes been rocking it, even in Blitz games. If someone wants to see his preparation that have to pay for it. sonits less likely gheyll mnow his openings and hes playing more aggressively against GMs. So he can def get the 3 norms the hard part is getting the 150 rating points.

Its crazy how people cant figure out the difference between having an analytical perspective and a personal, emotional perspective. When it comes to Levy, Hikaru is honest. The numbers on the paper dont add up to a GM Levy. Like he says, 150 points is not an easy feat. Many go tens of years without seeing even a 100 elo difference. Levy is a top 10-5% player, so he would have to beat players at the top as good as he is or better to gain rating. Doing so in any short period of time is near impossible. Beyond that, qualifying for a GM norm is also difficult, and in Levys case, inprobable. That requires you to perform at peak in extremely high stress environments and tournaments. Levy struggles with confidence... which in itself pre nerfs him. The paper stats just says it all, Levy as he is will PROBABLY not make GM. However, that is just Hikaru analyzing the reality of the situation. Humans are known to deny and move past reality. Humans have overcome reality with rheir own goals and ambitions and taken impossible situations and created miracles out of themselves. Hikaru knows this, but you dont take that and act off of that, especially if youre highly analytical. That still doesnt mean that Hikaru, deep down, as Levy's friend, doesnt fully believe Levy can be a GM, much less WANT to believe Levy wont be a GM. End of day, we all want Levy to be a GM including Hikaru. Its why he doesnt like the question, its against his feelings to answer honestly. Levy has been doing good recently in his return, lets hope he keeps pushing himself and proves reality wrong
