I am 14 and training as a wing for rugby, I have always been the smallest guy and so I’ve been training really hard at the gym, my dad thinks that this is damaging my speed training even tho I’m carrying on with my speed training, he has no evidence of this as my times have not got worse over these few months. This is the most helpful video and I really recommend it

certainly doing biceps curls reduced my wrist flexibility and thus the strike power of racket in badminton but I didn't stop doing it, I modified the frequency, recovery and intensity.

Ngl, I used to think the reason why I don't run as fast as I used to (although my cardio does stay the same)was because I had too much muscles, but it was more than just my muscles, but it was the fact that I realized I've gained a lot more weight to maintain more muscle + water+ more fat. I'd say I'd focus in losing some weight to not make myself any slower now as I realized what the problem was.

Sir, can i build strength in a calorie deficit?
@GarageStrength4 жыл бұрын
Explosive lifting, good rest periods between sets. Focus on moving exercises fast and having a high-intensity lift once a week. Thank you for the question 💪

I like lifting explosively

Weight training does make you slower on sports, increase weight (muscle). On the other hand calisthenics makes you strong, no bulk, ripped, and fast. Never will touch weight plates again.
@switchback36382 жыл бұрын
Every college to professional sports team has a strength and conditioning program. Weights can make you fast if you know what youre doing. Strength and explosiveness are similar systems, training one helps the other

Believe what you want but facts are facts. Increasing myofibrillar hypertrophy will increase muscle density without increasing size/mass too much and will make you faster by being able to move your bodyweight easier since it is piss light in comparison afterward. Heavy weight to the point of overcoming isometrics will cause more motor units to engage which will increase strength without adding size due to more muscle fibers being put to work. With strength training there is a point of diminishing returns yes, but the same is true for calisthenics, after a point it will also create sarcoplasmic hypertrophy rather than myofibrillar or other forms of adaptation, and sarcoplasm will increase muscle size and subsequently increase mass/weight without adding much in strength (sarcoplasm has other benefits however). Then there is also the process of increasing tendon strength/elasticity to increase strength and reduce injury using things like plyometrics/ballistic training and eccentric exercises/overloading, which is difficult to do with just calisthenics. You don't know what you are talking about so please stop. Do what you will with never touching a weight again, but others deserve a more educated and informed position supported with the actual facts of resistance training for muscle growth/adaptation.
