Will my 800 Watt generator run a 5000 BTU A/C??

I've watched 3 videos so far running the sportsman 1000 to power a 5000btu ac, the last two were great but y'all were using a much bigger cord than the first guy and his generator kept shutting down so thanks for the demonstration, 💯💯💯

@@BrianWatersOutdoors I got'cha, not saying nothing bad, but some ppl don't do their homework on the amperage/voltage of the extension cords they run to power certain products, that's why the videos ppl post are a great learning tool!!. I watched a video of some van dwellers who made a swamp cooler, he ran a 4"motor and reduced it down to 3" in a tube inside the cooler, then reduced that down to 2" coming out. He said it didn't work like he thought it would, he didn't realize he tremendously restricted his air flow coming out, he should've ran everything 4" and he would've overly been satisfied... Got to do your homework!!!! 💯💯

Just throw that ac in the front of the tent with a few inches into the door. Just tilt it up a little bit and zip the door around it. Use a towel or two to seal it better. Been doing it for years. Make sure the condensation Runs downhill away from the tent and not under it

I plan on using that exact AC unit on a Honda generator during the day and a Jackery 1000 at night for the master bedroom during power outages. Thanks for the video!

@@troyyarbrough - Not yet. I have 2 Jackery 500s and 2 Jackery 360s so far to run wifi, alarm, security cameras, TV during power outage. They go on sale often so keep your eye out! Less than $1 per watt often.

I have a 1500 watt bluetti with a thousand watt inverter and it won't run a 5,000 BTU AC. Thought maybe this one would. But you change the settings in the middle of the video. how many watts does it pull when the compressor kicks on? Mine spikes at 1,300 and shuts down my inverter.

When my compressor kicks in it peaked at about 750 watts. Is your a/c digital? I’ve heard that type pulls more watts than this non-digital a/c unit.

I think these are incorrectly rated by about 1 or 2 hundred watts shy of what it claims!

Not sure honestly how you could do that but if you have a power supply strong enough inside the vehicle and a mounting option to seal up around the unit I suppose it could be possible.

It goes in a window because the motor puts off heat. You don't want to heat the same room you're trying to cool.

it actually doesnt take much to power a window ac of 5000 btu its recommended to run it off of a 1500 watt inverter

I got one the tailgated 900 watt I've used it to run power to heat it worked great have used it to run freezer when power its great cheap tank of fuel will run a long time

If you get a model with soft start like this or the FFRA051WAE (the ones I have) should run it. I have a pulsar 2 stroke I want to try it with also which should be the same as your tailgator

Could you run that AC on a Goal Zero 400? From my limited knowledge, I am thinking yes but am wondering if I am right.

I’m not familiar with that generator, but I’m going to guess no. For this specific a/c I’m using I need about 700-800 watts start up/surge power to get it running. Once the compressor kicks on it only uses 400-500 watts.

No mechanical ones are energy star lol. But it does tmhave the soft start which makes it able to run on smaller generator. When running on a generator the energy start doesn't matter
