Dan is great. I’ve seen many of his videos and he hints that he has much more. His three releases are productive and I think I can use the feelings in my full swings. He has helped me.

I've only covered release 1 & 2 in Dans book and had two practice sessions but I already see the benefits. Just knowing exactly what shot is required and how to execute it already removes so much doubt on chip shots.

I love the videos! On hole 3, you might have missed that slightly because you were a few steps behind the ball lining up your Aim Point. This would have lined you up just a bit further out to the right than you would have been at the ball. Just some food for thought!

Are they tour response stripe balls any good? I use the pro v1s but fancy trying something different, any suggestions folks?

I use the tour response and I love em. Got great spin around the greens and with only 95-100 mph clubhead speed, I don't sacrifice distance like I would with a Pro V1. I dislike the striped version tho, but that's subjective.

Dan Grieve has the goods on the short game and his book is a must buy. It's a shame that he uses LEFT and RIGHT when teaching - it is long overdue that teaching pro's should standardize on lead and trail whenever possible.

Hip turn to start the downswing?

Your hands need to drop below the swing plane slightly before you hip turn or you will end up shanking the ball a lot.

Yeah, you lose a lot of power by swinging your arms at it, rather than building power from the ground up in your downswing, using your hip turn. Surprised that it leads to hooking the ball for Gaz. For me, it caused (and still causes) me to swing over the top, pitching the shaft really steep, with really high cutty ball flights. I guess you can get a hook from over compensating the other way somehow.
