what i love most about dan's video's is everytime time he does a demo of a hard shot, he explains all the issues with it, then just nails after saying how low percentage it is

Which yeah, duh, its called 3 releases . But i just ass-u-me(d) lies and situations would be included….or may e wishful thinking as im 50/50 rough/sand or fringe /fairway 😬🤷🏼♂️👍🏼✌️

Dan - I bought your book couple of days ago, but must say this is the best video I’ve ever seen on you-tube regarding real scenarios we face on the course. Absolutely brilliant library of shots to learn from. Thank you.

What I like best about your teaching Dan, is the consistent messages about course management. Your comments ring so true for amateur golfers. I think differently on the course because of you and play much more consistently as a result. The constant message is that golf is an ever-changing puzzle. Play smart to be successful!

@DanGrieveGolf - You are without a doubt, the best short game coach out there. You have helped me shave a number of strokes off my handicap. A request if I may - “Can you do a video on techniques for hitting out of fairway bunkers? Just like the short game, there is a lot of contradictory information out there. And, I could use some simple clear instruction on that!” Thanks!

That one leg in the Bunker shot was spot on, Very informative video, the toughest lie I often face is a 25 yard shot on total dry, bare ground with a bunker in front of a short side pin, learning and practicing release one has definitely helped but getting all the factors correct is rough lol

Been using the phil mickelson "Hinge and hold" this past year and it's affective for some shots once you practice it a lot. Your videos are pure gold Dan, teaching not only technique in a simple way but also how to play different shots... very often we make bad shots because we don't analyse enough conditions and come with a one fits for all shot which clearly does not work

Great video Dan. I find the important thing with a bad lie is to set your expectations accordingly. If it's a tough shot, then getting it on the green is a good result for most amateur golfers like myself.

Great vid, what I take from this as an amateur player is the mentality, when you're in a tough position recognize it and know that just being on the green is a great outcome. You're not a pro, you're not going to score like one. Really nice examples in here. Thanks!

What a useful video! You have the gift of explaining, what I think is a complex game, using practical, clear instructions. When you watch some of the great tour golfers explaining how to play the short game, they often assume that average golfers have the same skill-set as them. Of course we don’t have the luxury of thousands of hours of practice plus breathtaking talent. You teach us how to use the skill level at our disposal.

I’ve seen dans vids around, more of his shorts but recently just dove in his catalog and been working on some releases when I have time. I’m actually super excited when I’ve missed greens lately. I’ve always been able to play different shots around the green but it’s trial and error, like I’m capable and pull it off half the time 😂 but Dan breaking it down for us and gives us the understanding of what need to happen to play each shot is changing the game. I’ve got a release 2.5 that just one bounce and stops that is nasty. Actually might be getting carried away with it because I just wanna hit it over and over again😂. The big back swing and the club just fallin just feels like forever and then you hear the clip of the ball. When done Dan. Love from hawaii!!!

Super impressive as usual. I just wonder Dan … there is clear logic in your decision making for each situation. From club selection to improvised release. I feel that a big part of the challenge is being able to make those decisions. I just wonder if there are some basic rules, or a simple process you could identify that simplified this? Maybe wishful thinking… but worth asking 😅

Lol, every one of those lies is what I typically encounter - it's standard lie, not a bad lie (bad lie is rocky/gravelly dirt) I tried Dan's standard techniques but was constantly duffing and resorted back to high loft, ball far back in my stance - as Dan shows here. Maybe if I played good courses, I could play Dan's techniques. But I'm too cheap😂
