He doesn't know what gauge strings he likes? He does know that Factory strings suck? Who doesn't change strings on a new guitar. Look how crusty the pickups before he cleans them. What a goofball. He doesn't stretch his new strings before testing a term? Too annoying.

Duesenberg kindly told me that the two tiny hex screws that secure the arm have M5 pitch (short short 8mm length). Replace them with longer thumbscrews, like M5x12mm, and you can remove the trem arm to store/transport your guitar, then reattach it to play. These should really ship with the Les Trem as standard fittings.

Love all the Goldo tremolos and have been using them for several years! Couple of tips. Before attaching the Les Trem, I always put the arm in and adjust the tension of the arm swing. That will also get rid of the loose knocking. They come with a very loose spring and I usually replace it with a stiffer one. I find the stock one is a little too sensitive. Nice video!

@Ryan Ryan, my Les Paul came with a Bigsby and it always had trouble staying in tune. First I installed a Tusq Nut and Hipshot Open Gear Locking Tuners and those two DID help but didn't totally solve the problem. After I installed the roller bridge is when the problem was completely solved. It now stays in tune as much as any of my other guitars. I recommend that you go ahead and have the roller installed, I do believe you will be satisfied and if not do the other two as well. I am SO happy now, and yes, I DID have to change out the "thimbles" and studs but man it was totally worth it. 👍 🎸🔉🎶

Roller bridges are amazing! If you're adding a tremolo then , that's how not to saw through the strings and maintain tuning stability, but even if you're not most of them have brass rollers which (in combination with a smaller contact area on the saddle) will add like 50% longer sustain to a fixed bridge. Having tried one once I have no idea why everyone doesn't buy them as an immediate swap-out on everything (like I do now).

Because of the recessed studs, I would put a felt ring under the washer installed on the trem so that the washer doesn't leave an impression in the clearcoat. That way, if you decide to convert back to the stoptail, there's not ugly depression rings showing from under it. And the tuning stability is almost certainly the new strings having unreleased stretch. There's a luthier/KZbinr who's convinced me that string stretching and a quality nut are the absolute essentials for tuning stability. So once you get the strings stretched, if there's any problem with that, do the old pencil-lead-in-the-slots trick to see if that helps.

When I added my Les Trem I found that the tuning instability was due to how I tightened down the post screws before stringing the guitar. Loosen the post screws 1/4-1/2 a turn and let the strings pull the trem towards the neck. Then retighten it’s and the instability should go away.

Re: tightness or looseness of the arm: There is one other adjustment that you can make before mounting the trem. remove spring, then find the nut on the bottom of the round piece the arm goes through. It adjusts the slack / tightness of the arm. Extremely hard to adjust once spring is installed. Also: (Ask the guy who makes this trem, he absolutely hates the rocking bridge thing and actually makes elliptical bridge thimble inserts to stop those bridges from rocking). Re: tunamatic moving when the trem is deployed: some people say don’t let the posts flex. The best mod for that is to put an extra pair of thumbwheels on the posts that you adjust all the way down til they are touching the bridge inserts (after adjusting the top thumbwheels for proper bridge height). Also: try 10s to improve tuning stability, you’ll like it!

I put a Guyker (cheaper but very good copy of the Les Trem) on my Revstar and it works VERY well after I put superglue on the locking nut (inside the spring) to keep it from repeatedly loosening up (and the nut still can be removed easily if needed). Stays in tune quite well (helps to wiggle the trem lightly to get it back in tune if it does go out a bit). I do prefer my Strat trem feel and responsiveness but this is more like a Bigsby with its more limited range, and is more than OK. Didn't seem to affect the tone or sustain that much either, and while it does sound a bit different (hard to describe) it's still sounds very good to my ears.

I have the Les Trem on four guitars: 2 Les Pauls, 1 SG, and 1 Epi 339. I find that the trem seems to work best on the guitars with the arch top rather than the flat SG. Tuning stability improves with a roller bridge that fits snuggly on the bridge posts: any sliding around on the bridge posts affects how the strings return to tune. Also, I find that the trem arm constantly comes loose and starts wiggling around which has an effect on how smoothly you can use the trem. So, I use some super glue or thread lock to keep the nut that holds the trem arm onto the assembly relatively tight and locked down. Set up well, you can bend and return to tune with the Les Trem much more aggressively than with a Bigsby trem. They are also considerably lighter, easier to restring, and where I am from, much less expensive to purchase compared to a Bigsby system - especially when combining a Bigsby with a Vibra-mate.

I put one on an SG copy hoping for a budget bigsby but the similar mechanism and placement are a red herring and it's it's own type of tremolo and you could be disappointed if you were hoping for a bigsby-a-like. You don't have the limited parameters of a bigsby where you get used to that 2 step range. It doesn't have the resistance of a strat trem and while a jazzmaster style trem is the closest in terms of comfortable range, it is more exaggerated. Like all trems you get the feel for what you can do with it and I've grown to love mine.

My guitar teacher noticed this one day, recommended Ernie Ball Super Slinkys, and I've been using those exclusively ever since 'cause they give me the sound I want. It looks a bit odd but does the job.

If you're doing a floating trem, a roller bridge and locking tuners are a must have for stability. You need to minimize the amount of excess string on the posts, lubricate the nut and stretch the strings. Any unaddressed point that offers slack or tension will cause you to lose tuning to an unknown level of frustration. Proper setup is the difference between happy playing and total misery.

I tried one of these on my Epi ES-339 (the one with the more Bigsby looking arm though) and it seemed to change the break angle of the strings and I didn’t like the way it felt so took it off and sold it. I also added a roller bridge and now I wonder if it was that that caused the guitar to feel so different as everyone seems to love these…

I have one on my Harley Benton Jazzmaster (awesome guitar btw) and it works very well, no issues at all. I can play glide guitar even easier with it than with the usual wiggle stick on my jaguar. Will probably install one on my ES335 too. That Yamahah Guitar looks and sounds really amazing Ryan!

I ordered my Sunburst Revstar with P90's right after your first video of it. It took a while waiting for the next run. Honestly I'm havening an issue with the tone options. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it's variables.

This trem is very good. I only have a couple of complaints which are related to the morphology of the guitar more than actual issues with the trem itself. I put it on a jaguar which had a TOM tailpiece. Due to the form of the trem it is harder to hit the strings behind the saddles. jazzmaster trems are put really far from the bridge, it suits me better. The second thing which only regards the design itself is that I had a really hard time finding the good setup for the wiggle bar. On a jazzmaster I love the fact that it can stay where you leave it or go down with some degree of resistance without being totally free on its axis. It was at least for me quite a pain to achieve this setup on the duesenberg, I feel like it was made to either stay there or be totally free but not really in between. Also for guitars without neck angles the angle of the strings can be a bit too thin as the duesenberg makes the strings sit quite high relative to the bridge, I had to put a bit of an angle on the neck of my jaguar so that the strings would have a more pronounced break angle. That being said the installation is super easy, does not ask for modifications of the guitar itself and the construction is very very good. I will definitely buy a second one without hesitation if I need one. Your Revstar looks fantastic with it.

Super guitar. Wish I could find that HH SB in the market. Looks like the movement in the bridge was translating down into the body. I’d find a roller bridge that fits the Revstar to avoid that.

I like the Les Trem because of, as you found out, you can install it without doing major surgery on a guitar and see if it works, the only time I have had an issue with a Les Trem is when there is not enough space between the Trem and the bridge, then the angle is too much and it doesn't really function correctly. I have them on two Reverend guitars (one with a roller bridge, one with a standard bridge) and those work great, good range and stable tuning, tried one on a Squire M80 and it was not so good, too little space there between bridge and Trem, lots of string catch on the bridge due to the angle. Oh, and Revstars are obviously "influenced" heavily by Reverend Guitar designs.

We read from top to bottom so it would make sense that we'd string our guitar in the same order.

The way your bridge is rocking back and forth (not only at the base of the posts, but also where the bridge body is sliding on the thumbwheels) will be detrimental to what you're trying to achieve with that guitar's setup and the Duesenberg. A good roller bridge is a must (make sure each of the rollers roll freely). Locking tuners are a must as well, and you'll hear that echoed among vibrato users. A roller nut would be going that extra mile if you really want to have consistent action, otherwise lube can help a lot. Everyone's mileage may vary, but I've spent years setting up these things (mainly Bigsbys) and getting them to play nice with the rest of a guitar's setup. Remember to fully mute the strings and give a quick pull back on the bar to help reset the tuning after a lot of wanking--especially when lowering the pitch.

I liked mine at first but trying to tighten the trem it never worked the same. I could never really get it to stay in tune. I tried a tusk nut roller bridge all kinds of time spent on it. Lots of fun but when moving my guitar around in the case and after a couple of string changes the spring started loosing the same position

I had one of these installed once. Nice system, but I had two frustrations: one was that I couldn't for the life of me keep it in tune, even with locking tuners, I think my problem was that the bridge didn't rock as much like yours and the strings ended up slipping over it. The other was that my guitar couldn't fit in its hard case anymore, not without taking the arm off first.
