Will Neutering Our Adult Protection Dog Make Him Less Protective?

thats a smart way to do it around age 7-8. my first dog i watched be born puppy to 12yr.. and prostate/test cancer got him had to call it when they swelled up too big.. and that happened rapidly. i wish i woulda known sooner. ..but have the experience now

Will my border collie stop herding everything if I neuter it? NO. By the way, my BC that was neutered at one year developed and died from prostate cancer age 12. Go figure.

Protection is a bit different as the hormones have massive influence on the nerve strength of the dog, these neutered protection dogs might still display all the behaviours but i question whether they can take as much mental and physical pressure as they did previously

Go figure - just about the time we say something will never happen - it happens. There are no hard and fast rules in living with or training our dogs. Ill be honest, I would not recommend neutering any male dog at one year of age - no matter what anyone says (including Vets - who know little to nothing about dog training) In my opinion it's better to let the dog be nti he is 2 to 3 years old, et him have the hormones as he matures.

You have a lot to learn about breeding slick. I bred GSD's for police work and the biting dog sports for 35 years. My bet is I forgot more about breeding dogs last week than you have learned in a lifetime.
