Welp...this as been E Y E opening. I'm due for an optometrist visit as well (I've been wearing glasses since 1992). Is eye care covered under Canada's healthcare system? Here in the States, going to a specialist for eye exams is generally more expensive than going to a retail place like Visionworks or even Walmart.

depends on the province, they live in quebec so an emergency exam is covered, but not a standard check-up nor any treatment (so glasses, contacts, lasik, etc). according to this site: www.greiche-scaff.com/en/eye-exam/ the price for paige to get an examination is 70 dollars (canadian dollars, so 57.54 us dollars). then it's the price of the lenses and frames, but those are a product so the price fluctuates. so, paige is looking at less than $300 canadian dollars on average to fix this problem.
