As another comment pointed out you ran the half marathon at 2 completely different effort. No shoe on earth is cutting 24mins off a half marathon
@MichaelDavis-uu9zh4 ай бұрын
Just since advise from a runner and lifter: try not to use a max cushion for squats, it’ll throw off your stability and cause injury. For lifting typically you need a flat sole so you can plant your feet correctly. I run in the Clifton 9’s, great shoe, just not fit lifting.

thank you, i appreciate that a lot! I did not know that!

Thats a really good advice. I used to lift in running shoes, but switched to ones with flat soles and its a lot better. Shoes like vans, converse or flatter nikes work good for me

flats 100% better for gym (unless you’re doing runs )
@benjamin.kelley4 ай бұрын
Honestly, whenever you squat or deadlift, you should probably just do it in your socks - It doesn't limit toe spread like Vans or Converse do, and it's free!

Nah man, that cant be true. What is it about the heartrate being 20 beats higher (on average?) in the faster runs? You gotta match intensity for a even comparison 😅
@onlineo22634 ай бұрын
Hahaha I just rewatched after your comment. 142 v 163 ave heart rate. I imagine new running shoes are faster, also carbon plated running shoes are likely faster... But if you put in 15% more effort then you will definitely run faster! 😂
@Gabrielle-w2j4 ай бұрын
as a fellow average/newish distance runner, i can confidently say that i am able to run at a higher max effort for a sustained period of time when i pick the lighter/newer/better-fitting shoes in my rotation over my beat up, 300+ mile shoes. idk what it is exactly, but i think it has something to do with mobility or muscle memory or something, but as a fairly new runner, my stride/ability to exert myself often has just as much to do with the shoes i’m wearing as my rest/effort in the actual workout.

@@Gabrielle-w2j That's called motivation. This guy tried to fool us all, that's it. How can you run a half marathon with an average HR of 142? My HM PB is 1h20m at 169bpm and I'm 40 years old.

@njsfer3 ай бұрын
Good try but the HR data gave it away. No way that you can run at your max with an average HR of 143 unless if you're very unfit and in your 70's. And there's also no way that the shoes will give you that much performance benefit even if you're a responder (not everyone runs faster with carbon plates shoes, studies say). Honestly, those carbon shoes are one of the slowest that you can buy.
@Pourkhoa4 ай бұрын
Note: you want shoes that are flat + wide toe box for lifting especially for stability

True. I will never understand why people use tall and cushioned running shoes for lifting, it is the worse that you can use.

carbon plates can make u give higher efforts for longer
@MimiPlaysViolin7 күн бұрын
The extra propulsion you feel with the plate could be enough to make higher efforts feel more sustainable. It makes you want to keep going and doesn’t let you relax as easily even when you’re feeling tired.
