Not that it mattered either way, but unnecessarily tapping something indicates he’s not putting a whole lot of thought into his plays. I guess he was so thrilled to learn that mana burn is no longer a thing and had to put that theory to the test.

I can't shake the feeling that blowing up that forest was an act of spite or pettiness from a previous game, especially when there was an ISOCHRON SCEPTER WITH A TUTOR on the board. A deck that pumps out elemental tokens left and right shouldn't be afraid of Ayula.

Ayula fights things...Omnath needs to be on board for the Omnath deck to work...I'll let you do the math on why Ayula is scary for an Omnath deck.

@@orgazmo686971 That still doesn´t make it a smart move. You´re not going to keep the Mono G player from playing more lands while you´re wasting a good opportunity to deny repeatable tutoring. If your Omnath dies so hard to Ayula that you have to make it the archenemy over everything else, you need to play Omnath better or adapt (run Vigor, for instance). It´s a terrible misplay and the only logical explanation is just salt.

@@orgazmo686971 Ayula also needs to be on the field for her deck to work, and there are more efficient ways of keeping her from being a threat, like, you know... KILLING AYULA. It accomplishes pretty much the same in this situation, as each turn spent recasting her is a turn where you'll probably not see more bears entering the battlefield to trigger her. If a Gruul deck can't reliably get rid of a 2/2 multiple times, that deck sucks.

@@wilhelmkubein9498 Judging by the way this guy plays, he's one of those people that is completely convinced the best way to win is to limit the opponents' resources. He saw the bear player had only one green mana and decided to lock him out of any spells with double green for a bit, and possibly green entirely if he was lacking a second forest, (either way setting Ayula back an entire turn, the only deck that might outspeed him at the table). Then he blew up a sol ring, because that's what he's thinking. It doesnt matter to him what the tutor is getting, he's going to set his opponents back to try and win. This is a mostly stupid way to win the game if you arent then going to focus down the one guy actually gaining on you, so he lost. Like an idiot.

Acidic sliming the BEAR DECK's second land is one of the scummiest things to do, but also incredibly stupid, seeing as there's an imprinted mystical tutor stick on the other side of the table, like whAt? Also: nobody did anything to muddstah all game, at all. Of course the mono black untouched deck won, come on. As soon as someone drops a disk you have to force them to use it.

I know. This game almost felt scripted with how poor the threat assessment was. Isochron Scepter with an imprinted Mystical Tutor? Nah, let's blow up a basic forest instead for...reasons. Liliana threatening to ult the next turn? Sure, I'll send a pair of elves into while that player has probable removal up and instead target down the player who's been behind the whole game and who has a card that actively benefits me.

I'm Félix from the video - having my forest destroyed turn 2 was probably one of the worst feeling ever, but we still had fun! I'm sad that my bear deck didn't pop off cause I couldn't do anything, let's hope I get ramp and lands next time. Also, game lesson: someone has an on-board sweeper and their finger on the trigger? Everyone stops whatever they're doing and pound that player in the face until they pull that trigger. That's a political tool that's too powerful to ignore, especially if you have no answers against it.

Generally, yes, but initially Omnath was playing it right. By leaving Erebos alone, he makes it the other opponents' problem to eliminate the disk as Erebos isn't going to trigger it when Omnath is leaving him alone and taking our the other 2. I think the mistake was in Omnath finishing Ayula and removing the enchantment which gave him double green mana, making it impossible to quickly rebuild his board to swing down Erebos. Or maybe a bit before that. That Liliana needed to be stopped before the ulti anyhow.

The thing with on b9ard board wipes is they will be used eventualy force them to be used at inopportune time for that player otherwise u loose. Reminds me of when someone has a cyclonic rift and no one focuses them because they dont want to be wiped thats how u loose

get lots of rather cheap creatures with ETB or dying effects and a couple of mostly free sac outlets to get meren poppin. From there you can go the aristocrats route with cards like syr konrath / poison-tip archer / blood artist etc for example. also cards like grave pact, dictate of erebos and all the 3 mana "every player sacs a creature" creatures are really fierce board control tools. Meren can be extremly oppressive if your graveyard is not shut down constantly / meren is allowed to live 1-2 turns to long, even for not much money it can be a really strong deck. It can get people salty though, a reason why I actually dont play that deck very often.

Ah yes another comment regarding the Omnath player... playing a gruul signet in a landfall deck. Everyone else is going in on him for blowing up the forest but my god that is just bad deck construction. Even the dorks are questionable. You should be trying to min max your landfall synergy. Yikes. I don' think I can finish the video.

He also needs to bring out Omnath as fast as possible, and mana dorks and rocks can sometimes do that faster than land accelerators.

@@DarkEinherjar There are enough 1-2 mana ramp cards where you can easily avoid dorks/rocks. The only rocks you run are either overpowered or provide utility and gruul signet is neither of these things. Omnath decks should ideally be running over 40 lands with all the extra land drop cards. There is very little room for dorks/mediocre mana rocks. This is just sub optimal deck building. I usually don't care but that acidic slime on the forest is so dumb and then I see his deck list and its pretty bad too.

There was some bad blood this game, acidic slime on a basic, reigns of power for only 8 damage, etc. But, I think the biggest misplay was not using ANY of the “where ancients tread” triggers on liliana. Especially when you were going through the effort to try and ultimate her (the removal spell on the mana dork should have been a dead giveaway. Along with your reluctance to pop disk.) I’m not sure it would have changed the outcome of the game, but omnath would have had a chance at least.

At 11:40 Omnath died and it should have triggered his second ability to deal 3 to any target. It could have killed Joey that way, instead of by recasting it and triggering Where Ancients Tread. Also, just after this Ayula fought Omnath who died, and didn't bolt anyone for 3.
