Will Smith has enjoyed super stardom, and become synonymous with success. But the last few years haven't been kind to him. From Jada Pinkett Smith talking about cheating on him and airing dirty laundry from their marriage, to Will slapping Chris Rock - it seems like the once clear headed, always funny, forever jovial Will Smith, was showing his dark side.
In this video, I explore Will Smith's recent issues in the media, and try to get to the bottom of what exactly is going with him and his marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Cheating on her husband, rubbing his face in it, and calling it “ healing”?? Jada is a piece of work.
@CaptainSaveHoe
@CaptainSaveHoe Жыл бұрын
It's not cheating when you agreed from the start to this set of rules. That's what an open relationship is. Cheating is when somebody breaks the rules, "cheats" the rules of being sexually faithful to one person, open relationships do not observe that "rule" therefore it's not cheating. I don't know why people have such difficulty grasping that! It's not rocket science!
@sierramobley8962

@@CaptainSaveHoe judging from how Will was reacting to her discussing cheating on him, it seems like them saying they have an open relationship is damage control for PR’s sake. either that, or Jada is the only one who wanted an open relationship and Will agreed to it so that he could appease Jada, but wasn’t actually on board with the idea. otherwise he wouldn’t have been hurt by her actions. in any case, open relationships are bullshit and pointless and can never work out for a couple anyway and with regard to Will and Jada’s relationship, i’m not buying it.
@CaptainSaveHoe

@@sierramobley8962 she was never the marrying type, he was, it was he who insisted on marriage (from what I read), this is what happens when you impose your own Will on somebody else's, she had the right to not wanting the commitment as much as he had the right to wanting that, mutual respect is when both parties come to some kind of truce, in this case an open marriage, or otherwise go their separate ways. They went for the open marriage, which literally changes the *rules*, she never cheated because the *rule* to be faithful was waived, cheating is when somebody breaks *rules*. What I find BAFFLING is how BASIC humans are becoming, especially in America, life is more complex than simply blaming people, things go wrong for reasons that are rarely black and white. I also am not sure he would have had the career he had without Jada, sometimes, it is the woman who drives the man to become all that he can be, and also don't forget that their marriage outlasted most marriages. I think she's a good person. Will is a good man too deep down, despite the assault. They are two different spirits brought together, who made it work better than most, despite their differences.

@@kookytoots6755 She didn't know he was going on stage to assault the guy, so don't be ridiculous. Again, it's not she who "couldn't take a joke" it was HE, HE was the one that got up there and assaulted Chris, stop shifting the blame, she is allowed to look annoyed at a joke, that's what jokes do, annoy some people, you are allowed to look annoyed, you are NOT allowed to assault somebody, SEE THE DIFFERENCE? 😡 And so what if she told her daughter she preferred 2pac? It's not a crime to prefer somebody! The guy is dead! I mean come on. 😩 The fact is you do not know who gained the most out of their relationship, from outside it might look like she did, but in terms of the career outcome, I would be surprised if she didn't have positive influence, because it was pretty much as good as it gets, for Will. The problem is, conventional people do not like unconventional people, especially when those people are women, such is the innate misogyny of society, this is what I notice especially about America, it's not a good thing AT ALL.

I agree. I genuinely believe Will is a good hearted man. If he wasn’t, we would have seen the other side of his nature long before now. I listen to Jada speaking & I don’t like the way she manipulated what she says to make her sound right & him sound wrong. She blames “his ego” for things she couldn’t control. His ideal of being that man that provides as a good husband and father is actually healthy, but I believe her twisted jealousy of his success, denigrates him to make him the reason they had marital issues. Her so called healing, by having a relationship, is just a selfish excuse, plain & simple.

@@Caro_arch5801 It's absolutely possible to be good hearted person, truly in love, with only good intentions, but at the same time driven by ego. It's always quite ambiguous for me what even love is for a person who come from a strict/cold/loveless home. I mean the sheer personal definition of love always gets its components from some kind of roots and experiences, they're not the same for every person. It sometimes comes off for me as for that kind of person love may be just another competition with their own parents in their minds, like 'I come from a poor house and look father, how successful I am', just switch 'poor' with 'cold' and 'successful' with 'loving'. Love from that kind of person may come from the deep of the heart, but for partner who doesn't share that kind of background it may be just emotionally exhausting and result in searching for one's own space, which might be seen by spectators as being ungrateful and manipulative.

I was raised by an abusive parent and have become very sensitive to attacks meant to diminish someone. When she says, "I never wanted to marry him", and does not immediately follow that comment with, "and boy was I wrong!", then this is absolutely an attack. Without that add-on, the implication is, "and so he OWES me." It's the same with her comment, "I wanted to feel good", and "It had been so long"... it pretty overtly says, "You are not capable of making me feel good. You are not good enough."

This relationship breakdown really upsets me. From what I’m seeing, Will was a good man and did his best to provide for his family in the ways that men are traditionally expected to. And none of that was good enough for his woman. Jada, as a fiercely independent women who never wanted to get married and seemingly never wanted to postpone her career to raise her children, obviously doesn’t understand how masculine men show love to their families by being the provider, earning respect and appreciation, and doing whatever he can to make his wife happy. He maintained his masculinity without resorting to the physical abuse that he suffered at the hands of his father, and also tried to be an emotional support for his wife and kids. Instead of trying to meet him in the middle, she chose to cheat on him. She asserted her needs in a very selfish way considering that everything he’s done (good and bad) was strictly for her approval. I think in the end, she did break him, they are in a toxic marriage, and they would do better if they separated from each other.

I do believe Will has a lot of great qualities about himself; however, I believe Will would not be in this kind of relationship if he had a healthier mindset about his own self-worth, and his concept about men and women. Because I believe his statement is flawed. He believes a woman is a motivator for him to succeed and excel, that sounds romantic, but it doesn't work well if you give the woman all your power. Because I can see that he is constantly seeking approval and validation from Jada, and is she disapproves, then he blames himself and never feels validated by her...so he is never good enough in her eyes? That only causes him to feel diminished and devalued, so even after 25 years of marriage, he still doesn't know how to make her happy? I agree that they probably should go their separate ways, and not look for healing in each other. They need to heal on their own, so he doesn't feel conflicted by her needs and expectations, he needs to figure out what he really wants for himself!

@@morningglory3644 I agree. I definitely agree that he he lacks self-worth or some thing deep down inside. Especially since he can’t see how Jada makes these demands on him. I think most people would see him as a good man and a good provider in their marriage. But she somehow twisted it around like she had to suffer while he fed his ego. That’s bull!!!! They have plenty of money and they could’ve had nannies galore helping out with the kids. I’m not saying nannies to raise your kids for you but if she wanted to still have a career they certainly have enough resources to be able to do that. But you know what? she didn’t build her career. and I don’t know what the reason is but for some reason she needed to cheat on Will, because according to her she just needed to feel good. I guess all that time with Will you didn’t feel good. Who’s fault is that? It’s your fault not wills. Will needs to get away from her, it’ll be hard on him but in the end he’ll be stronger. And I think he cried during his acceptance speech because he felt so frustrated and exhausted inside of trying to make this woman happy. And then he realized what he did on a national stage and he still felt like she wasn’t happy. I think there’s a part of him that’s exhausted inside

Speaking only on the public relations/appearence of the issue: I think Jada comes out looking worse because she doesn't present her actions with humilty or contrtion (i.e. her decision to get married, side track her career, stay married, have an affair, **). She comes across as self righteous and cold which makes her seem domineering\bullying. Personally, I was turned off by her description of the affair - her husband and lover have both expressed negative opinions about the affair but she focused on what she alone got out of it. Also, it "feels" like I have been hearing about her unhappiness, their troubled marriage for years now - good grief, are she and Will happy yet? I don't think these tell all interviews are getting them any closer.

What I find most off-putting about her is how easily she can twist her husband's attempts to demonstrate love/affection into proof of ego/selfishness. I'm sure she just completely kneecapped Will when he had organised that gigantic 40ieth birthday celebration event only for it be thrown back in his face. This is narcissism 101: Everything he does, she can distort into proof she's being victimised so she can further guilt and manipulate Will. Meanwhile, there's not a hint of self-awareness around her own, far more selfish and prideful affair with her son's buddy.

That people talk about like it's a problem she has with her health is downright insulting to people who have actual health problems. I lost my hair and I didn't consider it a health issue at all. I understand it's different for women given societal expectations of how women are supposed to look. However another way in which it's different is that women can, as you say, wear wigs and look as if they have a full head of natural hair. On the other hand men who wear hairpieces look absolutely ridiculous. Even rocking a bald head like she does works for her; I think she looks great bald. Some women can pull it off really well and she's one of them.

To build off what you said in the beginning, about how Will and Jada are a rarity because of how long they’ve been together, I believe that that is the exact problem. That moment when Jada said she doesn’t believe cheating was a “transgression” (despite using dodging words like “entanglement” and “transgression”) you can see Will’s jaw tighten. Not only is wife admitting, publicly to his face, that she cheated on him, but that, not only does she not regret it, but she loved it because it made her feel “good.” Then she used that word “good” over and over, like a club. These two need to get away from each other NOW. These two are not a couple, and the amount of miscommunication, misunderstanding, and selfishness on both sides are the type of story you hear from close friends after a murder. These two are not a couple. They’re not a “partnership”. They are going to get each other ruined and killed if they keep going like this.

Even in this video I think we see several examples of Jada twisting and weaponising things Will did out of love into examples of selfishness and ego. I can pretty much guarantee that if Smith hadn't thrown an over-the-top extravaganza for his wife's 40ieth birthday, then THAT would have been the problem. If he hadn't been a career-oriented superstar she probably wouldn't have married him to begin with. But now, in hindsight, she can take all those things and edit them into a tale of victimhood to justify her own selfish behaviour, I.E. sleeping around and telling the whole world about it. In true narcissistic fashion, all the pesky details can simply be reinterpreted or re-written to fit Jada's inner narrative, where she is the stoic victim and Smith is the problem.

In that moment the person that steps out probably doesn’t care. They can do it openly in front of the other parent or kids. Usually, it’s in front of the kids. The kids will resent the parent (we saw this with their son Jaiden). And then usually if the couple works out they come together stronger together. A lot of them, usually the cheater does admit to feeling secure in the person they cheated on them with. It’s something that’s missing and though it hurts it can’t always be prevented either. But you can talk to your partner about it. So, I can understand her wording as some cheaters don’t always feel remorse immediately. In a marriage, it's never that one person is all good and the other all bad or visa versa. They BOTH have flaws, as we all do. The problem I see, is that IF Jada had an issue with everything being about Will, she didn't address it and let it pile up and pile up. Then she was pissed and said.. Ok, now everything is about ME. But that is NOT how marriage works. And Will obviously didn't want to lose her, so he said it was fine for her to cheat on him. It's obviously extremely painful to him and he doesn't like it or want that. Jada does not take responsibility for her own choices. No one MADE her stop working.. She was not his slave. My observation of the situation is that they BOTH have flaws/made mistakes. But I think Will seems to be the ONLY ONE admitting mistakes, even when they are HERS. I think she is more selfish and manipulative and unloving to him. I'm not saying that he's perfect, but he's definitely trying harder than she is in the marriage. It seems like she is controlling and twists the conversation. When he slapped Chris Rock, I was COMPLETELY against Will Smith. There is no right answer for a Narcissist!

Will mentioned in another interview (when he promoted his book with Oprah a couple years ago) that his whole life was about trying to make women around him happy (including his mom, ex-wife, Jada, and his daughter probably). But he keeps feeling like he failed in every relationship with every woman in his life. And here at red table talks, Jada also claimed that she believes women are often the most important motivator to men. This resonated with me a lot...... Because I remember my ex-boyfriend have been telling me that I was the one who motivated him to get a new job and upgrade his career during our relationship. When he broke up with me and decided to be with another woman, he also told me that he has now found a new motivation, which is her. The exact moment when I heard that, is when I knew deep down we were truly over......

Love for a woman is absolutely a motivator for men to work harder, take risks, be ambitious, etc. It's the reason the boy-saves-princess trope is one of the oldest and most common storytelling tropes. It's just unfortunate that heartless women like Jada will exploit that and worse, make their SO feel guilty for being taken advantage of like that.

Will Smith has morphed into the paradigm of want versus need. A young, "innocent" fame BOY meets a wiser more experienced WOMAN. He wants HER. He acquires the False Belief that If And Only If he is successful, She will love him. The false belief is she will love him AND that will make him fulfilled. Seeing this video presentation, in our age, Will Smith has become The Great Gatsby. In one irrevocable instant, he became a truly Tragic Hero tumbling down into the Abyss. Interesting how that green dress transforms her into JADA THE HUT, our Tragic Hero's Antagonist. We don't need the psycho babble of toxicity. Tragedy will do nicely.

Honestly watching Will rationalize all the clear emotional neglect. If Jada wasn't satisfied why didn't she communicate more of what she wanted than letting him run wild to please her? It's so clear they shouldn't be together. I feel terribly for Will. They should be with different people and I really hope Will finds someone who actually loves and appreciates him. God and his uncomfortable laugh he does. And Jada doesn't apologize or take accountability at all.

I'm sorry, Will Smith obviously did all these to make his family happy. Love has to have conditions especially in a marriage, If my spouse abused or constantly emotionally manipulated me I would have to at least review my relationship. Will Smith spent 3 years planning a party and Jada minimized his work and planning by refusing to be grateful and also making it his fault she was unhappy in the first place. All those things he was saying about how he was able to go be an actor and work while she was home looking after her kids etc sounds so weird, it's something I thought about when I was pregnant but I never expressed it because I also relished my new job as a mom, plus someone has to go out and work. Marriage is a partnership and there's a lot of give and take, we make sacrifices for one another. Why does Will have to be shamed for doing the things he believed were right for his family while the rhetoric Jada employs about her mistakes which seem really selfish and harmful to her marriage, is that it was her healing herself. The things Jada shares are also quite hurtful and she says things I would never say to my husband because I care about his feelings. I apologize for the rant but when you think about Jada's words and actions, she just says whatever is necessary to do whatever she wants.

Without a doubt Will is in a toxic relationship with Jada, so toxic that his bright light has been extinuished and replaced with a dark shadow looming over his head. He looks depressed and lost.... That evil women has weakened him and brouht him down - probably to the point of no return. Their saga is like a modern day Samson and Deliah where first, Deliah breaks Samson's sprit, second, she steals his soul, and third, she drains the life out of him. Will is now at the third phase. He has been advised and warned time and time again by his friends, fans, and perhaps his family to leave Jada. But he insisted on holding on to that evil. Will has to learn that evil does not love, evil destroys. He has to know that the longer he stays with that evil women the more opportunity she will have to completely destroy him. Truth be told, he should have left that evil troll a long time ago. But because he didn't, his career is almost tanked as he is becoming less and less relavent in Hollywood. He has already lost roles and endoresment. Why doesn't he get that she is the root cause of his career decline. Bottom line, if will would left that evil doer when he should have, that slap that was seen and heard around the world would have never happened. He needs to take a page from Johnny Depps playbook and stand-up to that witch, and dump her. Because truth be told, between evil Jada and Scientology, Will dosen't stand a chance .

Learnt a lot about narcissistic behaviour that’s hurting our society because of toxic people who are not self-aware or willing to take responsibility of their own unhealed wounds. It was a joke. Toxic masculinity and femininity needs to be addressed. Our children are listening and watching. May we all look within and heal ourselves as well as collectively. Love is the answer. One of the many youtube teachers I've watched said that narcissists are brought into our lives to wake us up through the pain they cause. I can say that was true for me because only through that pain did I start to look at and learn about myself and my unresolved issues from childhood that I wasn't aware of and were driving my life. We truly need to learn to love ourselves and only then can we really love anybody else.

The 40th birthday party really hit home for me. The poor guy spent 3 years planning it and Jada just called it 'selfish'. If I had been Will, I'd have called out her ungratefulness. The way they view marriage is the exact opposite: Will thinks of it as a partnership, that you are one and your successes are shared. That's what allows him to be a cheerleader for his wife and to give himself so selflessly to their life together. Meanwhile Jada, didn't want to get married and was coerced into it so she views it as a jail sentence that she's been subject to and is deeply unhappy. They should have just divorced and gone their spearate ways. Poor Will. What he did to Chris was not ok at all but the way Jada treats him makes me feel sympathy.

I don't think there is any doubt at this point that Will Smith has been in a relationship with an emotional abuser for a very long time. Anyone that watches the Red Table Talk in which he and Jada talk about their marriage can see it. Looking at the footage at the awards show, Will was laughing at Chris Rock's joke while Jada rolled her eyes and look annoyed. They cut away from them but Jada had to have said something to Will because a mere seconds prior he absolutely wasn't angry in any way whatsoever. He was goaded into doing what he did. EDIT: Will Smith needs a divorce, regardless of the financial cost, for his own long-term mental health. Jada is eating him alive from the inside out.

The reason why they had a different visions of a successful life is because they're wholly incompatible. Their entire value system is different, thus you can't build a successful life with each party in their own corner. She was unhappy because she wasn't in control in their life. Will was and is the truly successful one, he's the one who brings all the big bucks and Jada is secretly jealous and resentful of that. That's why she tears down every effort he made to do something nice for her. Even if he was trying to showoff, the fact that he loved her enough to even make the effort is praiseworthy, but she flung it in his face and made him feel terrible about himself. That's not a supportive spouse. She's happy now because she gets to live how she wants, but Will is spiralling and looks deeply unhappy. Marriage always takes work, but when you're compatible with your partner, neither one of you needs to be unhappy ... even if you have different opinions and ideas on how to do things. Jada was not and is not worthy of Will throwing away his good name and reputation for. This is one couple I'd be glad to see divorced!

Narcissim is a kind of evil though. And of course there is alot of nuance. The thing about narcissism is that the person can show moments of kindness and genunie care. And there are many type the over, covert and malignant type. But the thing that categorize them all is they are capable of good things when all their needs and desire is met. Once they dont, oh boy the selfishness will really show. The world aint perfect so they will definately act up. They will scream at the world about their own feelings while not giving a damn about the people they hurt to get their narcissitic supply. Well i am not sure what Jada is honestly dont hear much about what she did. But looking at how Will act up? He looks like a person suffering from narcissitic abuse. Fits a lot. I'm a guy who is similar to Will in persona, in that I don't like confrontation or negativity but place a lot of importance on respect and my masculinity. I will defuse situations that involve conflict through joking, genuine empathy, tolerance or avoidance because my father was a very angry person. However, this passiveness can be a problem, as sometimes conflict is healthier. I end up never fighting or yelling ever, even when there is reason to. Even though I try to deflect these situations to more peaceful, agreeable and "healthy" directions, the emotions get bottled up. Eventually after years of doing this I will blow up, to an absurd degree that is not even near an appropriate response, over that last final straw. Many times that final straw is if I feel emasculated. Most men have strong responses to being emasculated but I think it is worse in those who actually feel genuinely masculine - since it's more closer to your identity. I have been bodybuilding and training in Muay Thai since my early 20s, but Will is not only a big guy, but outrageously successful and rich. I remember loosing nearly 60lbs (mostly muscle) at 26 due to a health issue, and I could sense how different people treated me when I was skinny instead of muscular. Friends and strangers were much less respectful, to the point someone stole a beer from me at a bar and pushed me when I grabbed it back. Although I felt the same inside, people saw me as a 150lb geek, which was not only disrespectful, but I felt like I had to prove my masculinity. Jada completely embarrassed and emasculated Will for a while in a public fashion up until the slap. I think the combination of his jovial conflict-averse behaviour bottled up enough emotion, and when he felt his masculinity had been viewed as non-existent due to his wife's disrespect and subsequent internet meme's, he lashed out in an absurdly disproportionate reaction to what was a minor annoyance. I would bet this is absolutely the case, as I could even see myself ending up doing something like that if I happened in the same situation. It's a stereotypical emotional eruption and desperate display of masculine aggression. Just because I can understand it, doesn't mean I think he had reason to act like that. I do think Jada is a terrible, narcissistic, wife-from-hell and a caricature of everything wrong with the typical, hedonistic, immoral, post-modern western woman but what Will Smith did is 100% on him. Jada shares no responsibility in that assault, and she has more than her fair share of disgusting and self-centered sins. She is the worst person in all of this, and has treated Will like garbage. He still is responsible for his own actions, and being emotionally abused by his wife is not an excuse - victimhood armour is an invention of the far left marxist cult. He's still an idiot.

Jada asked Will to remove himself from his real life successes into a scenario where they’re both on a deserted island and she’s the deciding factor to his self-worth. “What do we have, Will?”. And all Will has ever tried to do is gain her approval and provide for his family, as any good man would in his position. He has done nothing out of the ordinary than any other husband and father, yet he’s always met with Jada’s narcissistic abuse that tells him he’s never good enough. She told his children he was never good enough, alongside with the rest of the world. But worst of all, she had Will himself come on her show numerous times believing he wasn’t good enough either. She would relish these moments and lay back as he spoke about his failures and shortcomings. Jada is a rotten person that’s deeply resentful of Will and his accomplishments, and has set out to dishonor their marriage and knock him down. Will Smith is a battered man in an abusive marriage of many years. What happened Oscar night was a cry for help, whether he realizes it or not. He was wrong, yes, but we have to recognize his behavior as a symptom of abuse and direct the outrage primarily towards his abuser, Jada. Side note: I don’t believe Jada would’ve achieved anything remarkable on her own. In fact, the little she’s done has no doubt been through her husband’s exposure to the industry that helped her move forward as an actress with mediocre talent. This idea that she sacrificed so much of herself for Will and their family is an extension of her abuse. She had everything to gain marrying Will Smith, and continues to be recognized at a certain level by mere association to his A List status.

I loved Will Smith (well...at least before the slap incident), I cannot say the same for Jada. That said, she isn't for me to love, as long as Will is happy, but is he? I think all he has ever wanted is to be happy and to be loved. So he keeps trying to proof himself to Jada, but from her perceptio, he does everything just to feed his own ego, including planning her a party. My husband planned a surprise birthday party for me, whether I like the way he did it or not, I still appreciated it because he did it for me. He made a cake and a huge mess, but he did it for me, so I willingly clean up the kitchen regardless whether it was my birthday or not. Jada gave me that feeling that she isn't impressed by anything he did at all, may be because she isn't as famous so she has to gain some kind of control and put on a display that nothing is about Will Smith, now it's all about Jada, yet the one who suffers the consequences is Will. Essentially she is admitting that she has no guilt because what matters is how she felt rather than how her action made Will felt. I don't know what'ss worse, the fact that Jada isn't impressed by anything that Will did for her despite that amount of effort he puts into pleasing her, or Will accepted the fact that his wife cheated on him and still trying to proof to her that he is worthy of her love and commitment.

Just so an incredible insightful and articulate. And yes, these videos get me thinking about my own life and my past and current relationships. Are you a psychologist? Or just a wise empath? Blessings!! Keep doing what you are doing!

Never understood why he chose Jada when he could have had much better.

This the best break down of this whole situation that I've come across. Really hope to hear more about as I can tell there's still loads to unpack.

So in depth, so much I didn't think of or find anywhere else. Solid agree on Denzel. Baggage Claim=best analysis anywhere. 💐💐💐
