Galaxy 1 and 2 are in the top 5 best games ever made for me. A third one would be a DREAM. Unfortunately, there's much more demand for Oddyssey 2/open world mario, so... yeah.

The whole point of Galaxy is being in SPACE and exploring GALAXIES, whereas Odyssey goes for more of a globe trotting theme and only goes for space-like theming when going on the moon. It also doesn't feature key mechanics of Galaxy like Star Bits (those regional coin reskins DO NOT COUNT), Launch Stars, Pull Stars, and changing gravity is exclusive to small 8 bit sections and only shows up a handful of times. Odyssey is NOT Galaxy 3. It's its own thing entirely.

Speaking of a Super Mario Galaxy 3 should definitely happened because I would love to see a lot more of these games. Those games are honestly pretty cool and fun. I can honestly see Nintendo being like we should not do this. Great video SF Productions!

Galaxy 2 happened because the galaxy was reborn in galaxy 1, but for the next galaxy we have to wait 100 years so its accurate to the lore

Super Mario Galaxy is a masterpiece & Galaxy 2 is amazing & are amazing childhood games. But if Galaxy 3 were to happen I hope Nintendo finds a way to make it run in a similar game engine that they used to create Galaxy 1 & 2, have an orchestra for the soundtrack hopefully. Improve the 2 player mode (I’m fine if it’s the Red Luma still). & finally have good graphics similar to both games in the Wii. Either way Galaxy 3 doesn’t have to be perfect.

Super mario galaxy being my 2nd favourite game ever, it would be an absolute ecstatic shock if they were to release a 3rd game. Like you mentioned, Nintendo always trying new ideas with each mainline 3d mario games. I have a theory that if they were to release something similar to Galaxy with similar mechanics and setting, they'd probably title it something different like super mario; universe, cosmos, interstellar, nova etc. Also, odyssey, 3d world, mario kart 8 deluxe and the mario movie did make references to galaxy a few times so not completely forgotten but probably too insignificant for nintendo make another galaxy game a priority. I hope in the next mainline mario game, they would allow you to play different characters like 3d world.

Idea: if Mario galaxy even happens I think a cool way of incorporating the planet hopping mechanic would that a certain amount of planets (not all of them) would be required to unlock the final area of said level

I remember watching Cloud's Smash Bros reveal trailer thinking it was Galaxy 3 being announced cause at the time I knew NOTHING about FF7 and the trailer starting with space and stars made me think Mario Galaxy

I would love a Super Mario Galaxy 3 to be a mix between Galaxy and Odyssey in the way Sonic Frontiers did it. Giant open worlds that play like Odyssey with Observatories that send you smaller stages that play like the original Galaxy games. Basically using Odyssey to expand on the Observatory in Galaxy 1.

Maybe a re-release of Mario Galaxy 2 with a small extra game similar to Bowser's Fury that uses enemy assets and power ups from the main games to create an open world. Mario galaxy 2 was not in mario 3d all stars. So they can re-release it with this

I don’t think Nintendo like sequels for mario, they want each game to have its own twist, it’s own companion, like luma, cappy, whatever the thing for sunshine is called, and that might also be why they haven’t rereleased galaxy 2, because that will remind people of sequels, the reason we want galaxy 3 is because galaxy 2 even exists and while it is sad to see each games ideas left behind and not get expanded on in any way, I can see why Nintendo don’t want to do that to save things from getting old

Odyssey is not Galaxy 3. It was clearly going in a different direction and theme. The whole point of Galaxy is being in the vastness of SPACE, and Odyssey doesn't take us beyond the moon.

Mario Galaxy getting a sequel was an exception, not the standard. I doubt we'll get Mario Galaxy 3 because the developers have already done everything they wanted to do with the first two games.

They couldn't even port Galaxy 2 to the Switch because of the controls since Nintendo made the Switch as versatile as possible with handheld mode and small Joycons instead of a full-fledged Wii Remote with Nunchucks. Forget Galaxy 2, countless people were complaining about the controls of even Galaxy 1 on the Switch to the point where there was even a Washington Post article about it. If they simplify the controls, fans will complain a lot because the mechanics is a huge part of what makes Galaxy so fun. Most people online say Odyssey is the best Switch game ever made; Breath of the Wild is a contender but it's a Wii U port, so it can't be counted as best Switch game. Both Galaxy games, BoTW, and Odyssey are also on Wikipedia's "List of video games considered the best". Yet, most people comparing Galaxy to Odyssey still say the two Galaxy games are better than Odyssey, the best game Nintendo made for the Switch, so there's no way Nintendo can live up to the expectations of the fans, especially if they have to cut down controls to fit the crappy Switch controls. Nintendo is not gonna go back to old-style controls because the Switch's controls work just fine for the vast majority of games, so having a bulky Wii Remote + Nunchuck setup doesn't make sense. The pro controller works well for almost all of the remaining few games except those like the Mario Galaxies, which isn't enough to justify going back to the Wii Remote. I want Galaxy 3 to happen, but it would need some revolutionary innovation for the Switch's successor that allows the same versatile handheld+docked and non-bulky controls of the Switch with the precision that the Wii Remote and Nunchucks give.

Isn’t super mario galaxy 3 super mario odyssey? Because the arrows that flip the gravity look suspiciously similar like the ones on the Inverted Pyramid, and when you transform into a bee the sound effect sounds similar to the one where you get the golden sail for example, or when the odyssey gets upgraded

To be honest, I’m not really interested in a 3rd Mario Galaxy game. Don’t get me wrong, The Super Mario Galaxy games are really well made. But I’m indifferent to them. I wasn’t a fan of the forced motion controls. And there isn’t much incentive for me to return to them after my first playthroughs. So I don’t have much interest in Nintendo making a follow up. But this is just my stance. I’m not gonna stop others from wanting a Galaxy follow up.

I think you pretty much got the main points down. Interestingly you've also pointed out something that I hadn't actually recognized about the Mario series before, and thats the fact that they keep trying something new everytime. I also, just realized that the Sonic series also takes a simialr mindset, but because they don't have the same level of quality control, it ends up being viewed differently. I am just now realizung these comparisons and actually think it would make a cool video idea. But given that you were the one to point out this fact I'm just gonna leave this here as a possible video suggestion just in case you would like to expand upon this. Umm... I'm not sure about this... An open world loses cohesion and pacing. Amd Mario is about jumping, doing tricks and running fast, I believe linear obstacle-based worlds like in SMG work best. No time limits though.

If a Super Mario Galaxy 3 happened, Fawful could be the main villain, or be a villain working with Bowser and could be a secondary antagonist and recurring boss. Would be poetic and ironic as he previously worked for Cackletta, then he was a master for Midbus and was an enemy for Bowser, and then later after being defeated and later coming back a third time he ends up having to work for Bowser would be funny and hilarious as he’s desperate for something of a purpose and the last time he tried being a master it didn’t end well for him as he exploded. 🤣 lol 💯 Also, him now being a minion for Bowser would be welcome grand return of Fawful’s character since the Mario & Luigi games being discontinued due to AlphaDream shutting down.
