This is the best, most mature version of this song because they made two very small changes to the lyrics. The original line goes “There’s a better home awaiting in the sky.” - it’s all about certainty. In this version, the line is changed to “Is a better home awaiting in the sky?”. One word switched, one question mark added, and the WHOLE character of the song changes. Now it’s no longer about certainty - it’s about longing and being unsure, which - let’s be straight - is the most honest way to approach whatever happens after we die. Nobody really knows what happens, but we can hope that whatever it is, is good. I wish more hymns were like this. Doubt or uncertainty is an inherent part of faith. Faith is all about acknowledging that something can truly never be known for certain, but hoping that it’s true.

I remember when I first played this in the game, it seemed happy watching Booker and Elizabeth just hanging out. After finishing the game and DLC though it just seems so sad.

@@findlaymurray397 Elizabeth dies, but Anna still survives doesn't she? At the end of Bioshock Infinite, you see the black and white cutscene where you hear Anna in the baby's crib. So basically, the Elizabeth that we've come to know dies. But Anna still survives and ends up living a normal life where Booker doesn't sell her. She doesn't end up becoming Elizabeth and Booker doesn't end up becoming Comstock. Am I correct?

@Dhitty Jordan you should play bioshock 1 and 2. Although you're already spoiled a little bit because you already know Atlas is a bad guy but it's still worth it. Also don't harvest any little sister if you want to see the good ending which is cannon.

I had never heard this song before playing this game. I knew nothing about this game before I played it except playing Bioshock 1. This game enraptured me in its stunning encapsulation of all our dreams and what we would do to reach them. Who lives for the day, one day when even half of their dreams even begin to come true? Who would even be satisfied being able to finally take the first step toward them and the path ahead being the road they feel in their soul they need to be on? How many never even know what road that is in their lives until its too late, who finally find their purpose when they are separated from it by life's impregnable echoing gulfs? This game and this story is a story about the path to purpose, the path to peace, and the path to what we all imagine happiness is. IF only we were born knowing our path, or even knowing if we have a path at all. Lost time, and forsaken chances.

This song hits so hard thinking about loss and spirituality, it’s so beautifully performed. It drives a man to tears thinking about his own glory and the sacrifices made, we shall rejoin our loved ones in the sky lord.
