Well done Paul. Your perseverance has been rewarded and I hope the rest of your project is plain sailing.

Well done. I think it's terrible that car manufacturers are putting up so many barriers to stop cars coming back on the road.
@st200ol Жыл бұрын
It’s understandable in the case of EV’s though, they have a bad enough reputation for spontaneously busting into flames already.
@ched999uk Жыл бұрын
@@st200ol To a degree, but having to code headlights, injectors, starter batteries etc (not on EV's but IC cars) is just a money making racket.

Well done to you. I've 70k km on our ID.3 and we love it. They're a great car but software is buggy so don't get a scare if the car throws a fault or even won't drive. It can be normal believe it or not ha ha and you are to lock it and walk away for 15 min and it will reset. I've only ever had to do that once . We are part of the official VW ID owners group and many shared their experences about that issue. 3.2 update did solve many of this but just incase it happens you, it might not be anything you did.

Watching these episodes tells me EV salvage will be cheap once established, as not many people will have the patience or skills to repair them. Certainly will stop the DIY weekend warrior’s in the salvage game. Well done for your perseverance Paul, it’s a great series. Where did you do your EV training?

If the rear seatbelts have different part numbers I would assume they are handed left & right for the inertia reel spring part of the mechanism - might be worth double checking.
@st200ol Жыл бұрын
Agreed, so many short cuts and bodges here. I’m beginning to realise why manufacturers are locking down the supply of parts and who is allowed to repair them. Or is it all just for comments because comments and views on KZbin = more cash.

Hi Paul, I've only just looked at your series on the ID3. Very well done on getting there and delving in to EV repair. Ive just bought a damaged ID5 that will need the HV battery reinitiated with odis online. Who would you recommend to do this remotely and do you need a VAS6154 dongle for them to connect? Thanks again for an informative video series, P.

Hi there Paul just have one small Questran I have ID4 and followed your step by step but at the end i the car don't go to drive here what I have done so far 1.Pyrofuze been replaced by qualified HV specialist. 2.airbag/seatbelt been repaired by airbag team and the airbag ecu been cleared, only the Curtin airbag not been put back 3.and Odis onion cleared by Vagcodingspecialist. Now when I put my diagnosed, I get this error (U041300- invalid data received from battery energy control module b) and don't accept charging when I plug it in to wall charger any tips would be appreciated and PS love your video keep it up

This is great. I am interested in buying the cheapest id3 and then adding the interesting stuff like ACC and TA, Heated seats and rear camera. Unfortunately VW have a baseline of Model Year 2022 October I think, for the inbuilt shop to buy a lot of the software upgrades.... but am hoping they can be added to an old version..
@christopherwright1795 Жыл бұрын
Definitely an achievement these cars have such a complex electronic system compared to internal combustion engines , it could mean they’re cheap to buy after an accident and more likely written off , do you think this could be a new avenue for you as probably no one else will touch them so they could be bargains
@CarsForPaul Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, they are more complex to repair as you have seen from my journey so far as you need software to repair features and online access to ODIS to recommission the drive unit. Telsa is the master of this and as new cars come online, this will only get more and more difficult to do
@mentalmechanic Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. Great video, would be interested at the end what the total costs are to buy and get on the road etc. Is the saving, if any, enough to justify over buying retail? I realise that wouldn’t make a good video but it would be good to know all the same. Thanks
