I've had my hernia for almost 4 years now & have been doing George's exercises for most of that time, although I admit that I haven't been following it exactly all the time. At a minimum I'm doing ab vacuums, squats, leg raises plus some stretches 6 days a week. Even though I still have the hernia, I haven't given up hope that the exercises will work. At this stage I'm not even considering getting it repaired surgically, because I can see that, in theory, George's program should work in my case. I think that I need to be giving it more time & figuring out what I'm missing. I feel that my attempts to heal the hernia naturally have possibly stopped it from getting worse, plus I have noticed excellent improvement in my core strength. The question I have is - why WOULDN'T this work? Are there are any hernia surgeons out the who can offer a logical explanation as to why George's exercise program won't work? If so, then please provide that explanation.
@jtcarter2967 Жыл бұрын

According to surgeons the “hole” will always be there allowing the hernia to pop out again
@chrismarshall8217 Жыл бұрын
If you had it stitched together, the stitches would be internal and so, dissolvable and in a couple of months they would be gone. So in my mind, the hole could reopen. But it doesn’t according to the surgeon as with time it is knitted as also with the mesh where a solid collagen cement fills the mesh holes reinforcing the strength but causing so much pain and tearing to neighbouring organs that it leaves the recipient almost suicidal,..so many lawsuits. So if the two flaps of the tear are held together by a truss, and core abdominal strengthening, why should the hole be any different than the stitched area. That’s what the body does when healing. Why shouldn’t the natural method work? It’s as if the doctors want you to believe that it will never heal when it seems there are clear examples of healing without surgery.

@@SolitudeInE-Minor Yeah so I've consistently been doing them 3 - 4 times a week since I posted this comment (4 months). The frequency of it popping out and the size has slightly reduced for sure but the progress has plateaued atm. It's all on me though since I've stopped the number of reps at 14 and I could increase that and experiment with the frequency per week - George mentioned in a vid that doing it too often can make it worse. Also my diet and tendency to over eat can be improved. So it works but doesn't feel like it'd ever completely "fix" but I'd rather this than getting a mesh surgery especially since I'm still kind of young. Some extra context on me worth noting is I'm a runner and I run in the mornings on an empty stomach or small brekky but do have to stop a couple times each run to do a vacuum breath. I mention this because George said running is a big no no but I've been able do it and so long as I keep the hernia in for most the run (doing vacuum breath), it doesn't at all feel like it's negatively impacting the healing process. Also I just recently did 5km under 20 min which I'm quiet proud of considering the hernia.

Now, that was four years ago. At that time, at any rate, I would say your hernia was not healed. So did the natural healing method work? Maybe it's different today. Hi George. I had left ingunial hernia surgery 14 years ago and all these years hoped it wouldn't come back. Recently I have had some discomfort in the left area again and the last thing I want to do is get surgery again. I found your channel and watched your videos and hope I can do what you did and knock it out. I just started doing the AB vacuums and will do them every day now in the hopes that helps. I just got 2 comfort truss from you in the mail today. Just a couple questions. It is really tight,is that how it's supposed to be? And should you apply this laying down so the hernia is in when you apply the truss?
@MyNaturalHerniaCure Жыл бұрын
Yes, it should be tight when you first put it on. You might have to stretch the waist strap up to 5 inches to fasten it at first, then as it breaks in it will stretch out over about the first two weeks. Some people do have to apply it while laying down so that the hernia can be reduced fully. I hope it works well for you. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks again, Chris
@MyNaturalHerniaCure Жыл бұрын
Yes it will definitely still help to support the area even though there’s no lump. I would rather find the root causes of the problem and fix those rather than get cut open and slap a bandaid on the problem. Too many horror stories of post operative pain, reoccurrences, or hernias popping out on the opposite side. Surgery does nothing to fix the underlying problems that caused the hernia to form in the first place.
@rothsteinguitars Жыл бұрын
George, I thank you for putting this information out there. I understand in some cases surgery is required, but the more I read about inguinal hernia surgery, the more I never want to get it. Most reputable articles that I have found report upwards of 15% of surgical procedures result in long term chronic pain. Those are terrible odds. Just take a look at some of the anecdotal reports in various FB groups dedicated to mesh related injuries. Frightening stuff. Some report severe pain immediately after surgery, and others say they are fine but then 5 - 7 years after the surgery, some kind of issue. The mesh migrates somewhere it shouldn't go, or the mesh deteriorates, etc.. In the end, hernia surgeons will always have a conflict of interest because they make a pile of cash on surgeries, and they make nothing on natural hernia remedies. But George, I will be honest, I do have concerns with your use of the term "cure" and think a more accurate term might be treatment or management. I think your exercises do help, but if you hold the groin area and cough, you'll still feel a bulge pop out (even if small), and as such, a hernia is still present. I think the combo of your exercises and your truss allows people to manage the hernia and live with it and not risk surgery.
@MyNaturalHerniaCure Жыл бұрын
If I hold the groin area and cough I feel nothing. There is no pressure pushing out any longer. I have no symptoms at all any more, so if that’s not a cure I’m not sure what is. Either way, when I named my blog and KZbin channel, it was in the beginning of my journey when I had no idea if I could heal it or not but I wanted to document what I was doing, which is why I called it MY natural hernia cure. It was basically just a chronicle of what I was doing to see if I could cure it. I agree with you about the medical establishment and incidences of issues around surgery. I talk to people every day with horror stories. It’s insane. But there are lots of people out there who it works for also. For me, the odds of something bad happening seemed too high for me to want to take the chance. Looking back now, I’m so glad I didn’t.

@jtcarter2967 Жыл бұрын
Hernia surgery is really not that expensive and is very safe unless you have other conditions. The mesh gets a bad rap from years ago. I had mesh in 2006 on the right side and getting ready to have it in the left. The mesh is there to build the wall back stronger. Sutures alone do work but your limitations will be more and from what I heard takes longer to completely heal.

It might be the differences of opinion and other natural methods which sometimes contradict each other. Speaking of that, I have a question which seems to be controversial: It regards the valsalva maneuver when lifting or pushing heavy weight. Some experts say that using the valsalva maneuver builds up pressure in the abdomen which will lead to hernia, and therefore advocate exhaling on the exertion/contraction phase instead ofthe alleged bad habit of bracing and breath holding. However, other experts say the valsalva maneuver prevents injury. What do you say? i have a very small inguinal hernia right now and want to continue with my lifestyle of working, lifting and exercising but don't know if i should stop using valsalva or not. What is your opinion on how to breath during exertions?
@MyNaturalHerniaCure Жыл бұрын
I would say the Valsalva maneuver would not be beneficial because it’s building up intra-abdominal pressure before the exhale. To me, it’s all about learning how to tighten the pelvic floor and transversus abdominis muscles at all times while doing any activity in order to keep the Hernia in.

I'm 42 and was officially diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia in 2009 and probably had it as early as 2001 because I remember getting warm sensation in my left inguinal area when I would get very tired while sitting for a long time or running really fast, but always thought it might have been my testicle hitting my thigh something. My hernia is reducible and never gave me any pain unless I did something stupid like a fast movement causing compression down there. Like an idiot I tried curing it naturally for years after getting diagnosed with crunches and trying to hold my stomach tight during the day. Over the years it has gotten larger and now is the size of a golf ball when I suck my stomach in causing it to pop out cause I'm no longer young and have a ridiculously tight abdominal wall. I honestly thought about giving up until I saw your post on herniatalk from 2018 and the dr. on the site actually defended you saying it was possible to lessen the symptoms with core exercises. After reading that post I'm back to really going after this thing and hopefully can get things really strengthen that region enough to make myself proud. With start of 2023 I have made it my goal to really work on my transverse muscle 2-3 times a week with combination of your exercises and other kegel strengthening exercises. I have noticed over the years that my hernia gets much smaller when I have an erection which means if muscles down there are strong enough it will hold the hernia in. I have 3 of your heavy duty belts that I wear when I work out with dumbbells for upper body and squats. My hernia is also much smaller after working out with weights cause my core tightens up while working out. I also don't wear the truss all the time cause I'm paranoid about losing muscle mass because I read bunch of articles about hernia belts cause muscle to get weak.

Great job on working on your hernia 2-3 times a week, have every considered working on it more? Or maybe even less? You could also experiment exercising the abs every single day, or do the oppossite and do try it once a month. hhhhmmmm 2-3 times a week???

m-ok you just said the correct words. Lessen the symptoms. Hernias NEVER reduce in size. They may not get bigger or they are pushed back in place where they don’t seem as large but they never reduce in size. I had one the size of a peach for 20 years and never knew it was that large until I had it repaired. It never hurt or anything. The notion that hernias reduce in size is completely bogus and the truss doesn’t work for everyone.

@@rawfoodphilosophy7061 I do 2 days a week of exercises from these videos and hernia bible and do other exercises everynight before going to bed. Ab exercises won't do anything for your hernia cause abdominal wall doesn't actually cover the inguinal hernia zone.

@@jtcarter2967 Lessening the symptoms should be the goal instead of curing something which is almost impossible for 99% of people cause it would take so much work if possible.

I am afraid that exercise will make it worse .

I’m not worried it won’t work. Waiting on a wedge to elevate my butt to do the exercises
