I wish you could toggle certain expressions to see what the sim looks like “in action” since that can help you catch if something looks bad when animated….but I agree the constant moving during CAS is so freaking annoying

You know whats funny? The main issue with Sims4, apart form it being boring even with 100 dlcs, is that the game is always broken, had they made a functional game, spent more on actual programmers and testers and less with marketing, they could easily survive a new competitor because people that enjoy the game would still be playing...but they can't even do that because the game is always so broken that the first functional fun life-sim that shows up can easily steal the spot from the Sims because at least you can play the goddamn game.

@@st20332 seems like you never played gardening in the sims 4, never had your sims go at a restaurant, never had a sims 4 wedding, never saw your sim go through a wall for no reason, wash the dishes in the bathroom sink, eat their food in the weirdest places and so on. Sure you can run it on toasters and it can also crash on toasters as many sims 4 players have been experiencing. So yes it is actually true. Sims 4 is broken.

I've noticed the thing with the 'base game' too. And also that people are constantly talking about DLCs and what modders can do with the game. You just notice how conditioned people are to think in these terms, instead of seeing that what EA is doing with the Sims is absolutely not normal. Not everything has to be DLC and not everything has to be done by modders, you can and should expect that from the developers, that's what you're paying for in the end. Great video, Satch, as always. I'm probably in minority, but I really don't care about Sims 5, like, maybe just a little as a curious person, how it will be. But given how much I invested in Sims 4, how many times I got disappointed by Sims 4, I dont care much of a franchise now. Sims 4 can be developed for another 10 years, I would be fine with it. All I want now is good simulation games like Paralives or Inzoi. Sims is done to me at this point, no matter what they release

Inzoi looks like an upgraded version of Sims 3 with its own uniqueness. Quite frankly, Inzoi is what older Sims players have been asking for years, and Maxis and EA just refused to listen. I don't think Inzoi will take away all Sims players because you need a good gaming computer to run it, but I can see that EA and Maxis will have some serious competition.

EA bought out Maxis in 1997, several years before The Sims 1 was released. So yeah, EA has had its fingers in ALL of the Sims games.

@@MuirlySims Yes, but the difference is that Maxis was the primary developer up until 3 and was just a subsidiary of EA (meaning EA funded, managed, and published the Sims games, but Maxis was still the developer.) For The Sims 4, things did change because Maxis was no longer the primary creative force. The developing team was rebranded as "The Sims Studio" directly by EA, so EA became a lot more directly involved in the game. The games were definitely a lot better when Maxis was the main developer before EA decided to force more of their own involvement.

@@lizacrochets98 please don't buy/build a pc until inzoi actually comes out and has been reviewed by other people. most of the KZbinrs that get early access were sent a gaming pc by inzois team because their own pcs couldn't run the game. because of the graphics it will definitely be very demanding on pcs even with very good specs!! there are some minimum/recommended specs on their steam site but make sure to wait until it's actually out before you spend hundreds on something that won't be enough in the end

If I remember correctly, Will Wright himself once said that The Sims needed more competition. But maybe it wasn't really a risk people would want to take at the time. Even Will Wright was told that The Sims would flop, but he took the risk anyway. Perhaps the genre needed its giant (the Sims) to fall for others to rise.

No one was willing to take on the challenge because creating a life sim is really a monumental task. Modern dev tools make these things much easier, but it's still incredibly difficult to compete with a game with literal decades of code, experienced devs and a large studio behind it. The only reason we're seeing so many pop up now is because of how much interest there has been in Paralives imo (as well as technological advancements ofc). It's become really apparent to other devs that the life simulation genre is crying out for alternatives, and players will jump to any other game that's good enough. Golden cash opportunity.

InZOI is offering us things we've been wanting for years in the sims 4 and also implementing features we could only get through mods in the sims 4... InZOI really understood the assignment. The fact they went from “you can’t drive cars places,” to “we have a whole car marketplace and you can drive yourself, traffic included.” Is SO encouraging. Imagine if back in 2015 there was a holiday update with cars for sims 4. That’s how fast they added the feature. A couple small content creators I follow go early access and several of their easy fix requests such as can’t invite someone over if they’re a certain distance away, were fixed same week. The team seems to really have a grasp on their game and how they built it, which makes maintaining and adding so much more efficient and quality. My PC will just plain and simple not be able to run it, but maybe it can go the route of cyberpunk and by this time next year the optimizations will be in place for mid to above mid tier PCs to run it. The fact they’re using UE5 SKILLFULLY and not some proprietary EA garbage means there is a global ecosystem of applicants, addons, and development partnerships for Inzoi to use to grow. I mean there’s a hundred vaporware games on steam right now using UE5 built in “Humans,” feature making games “look good,” but none of them can even do UI improvements let alone system reworks. TLDR Inzoi is making the most of UE5 and is already responding to community feedback better in 6 months of playtesting than the 15 years sims has had from sims 3 to now. All hail Korean gaming studios

I think if EA will continue to put up half assed expansion packs to gamers and not focus on repairing the broken packs people will eventually get tired of the sims and leave it behind. I know, I did. I love the Sims, I played it growing up from sims 2 to sims 4 but witnessing your childhood game slowly die from a disease EA constantly feed, it became a deal breaker for me. Inzoi is like a breath of fresh air imo. It’s like they knew what simmers wanted and made it into a game. I’m excited. Will it replace the sims? I HOPE NOT. The Sims is a household name but reputation-wise? Yea, if TS4 won’t better their game, they’ll probably leave a bad impression in the long run and force desperate simmers to play Inzoi instead.

@@ikindaforgot3945 There's a thing called Nvidia NOW, that allows you to play the game without having a powerful computer (NVIDIA runs the game on their servers and streams it back to you, you just need good internet connection). Is not available in all countries (I think only USA, Europe and some Asian countries) but could be an option for people that can't by a PC right now.

I have my doubts whether this can actually happen for one simple reason: unlike SimCity, The Sims is EA's golden goose. SimCity was never a franchise with wide appeal or a very large audience, so EA kind of never paid much attention to the game, to the point of not doing anything when Cities Skylines was released. With The Sims, the scenario is completely different. We are talking about one of EA's main successful franchises, with annual releases since 2000. If EA does nothing about Inzoi, it knows it will suffer unprecedented financial losses.

I don't see any one single title being the "one" to dethrone TS4, instead each time a new one releases, it'll be like they each get to take a swing at EA and weaken its chokehold on the genre a bit every time. The bell toll for TS4 will not be one competitor, but instead the simple fact of players having multiple different alternatives. Because with enough choices, most people are bound to find one they like better that isn't from EA.

I've been playing The Sims since 2000 and I'm done. With or without another life sim the chances of me ever buying anything else from EA is zero. I barely play Sims 4 because it's so broken, I'll get in for like 15 minutes and then I close it for the next 2-6 weeks. I haven't played in 2 months and I'm not really interested. Every time they actually get it running fairly playable 2 days later there is a update that breaks it all over. So yes I will get Inzoi, and paralives... but Sims no never again. BTW love the hair. 🥰

The rest of my specs meet or almost meet the recommended (especially the storage lol), but my processor is just the minimum. Which I know is the minimum for a reason so it should RUN, my concern is just that the game will require a lot of the processor, so it might not run as well for me. Fingers crossed it will, though. I'll definitely be trying the character demo to see if my desktop handles that.

Well, the specs are out on Steam. It's not really *that* intensive, it seems very well optimized. The minimum specs are as follows: Windows 10/11, Intel i5 10400 or AMD Ryzen 3600 processor, 12 gigabytes RAM, NVIDIA RTX 2060 (8G VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT graphics card, Version 12 of DirectX, a broadband internet connection, and 60 gigabytes of storage.

I remember when the sims 4 came out and was being announced a lot of the cc creators stopped making clothes, hair etc for the sims 3 and I was so sad and a lot of them went to the sims 4 to make cc content I switched over to the sims 4 only cause I loved the customization freedom that I could do in cas and because of cc I didn't really care for the cartoon look but I sucked it up cause nobody was updating or creating cc for the sims 3 anymore so I think with inzoi coming out majority of the people who make alpha cc for the sims 4 are going to leave first and then eventually the people who make script mods will be the next to go I think the only people who will stay are people who love the maxis match style cc creators and people who are just die hard fans for the sims 4 I love the mod freedom that inzoi seems to be promising for people who don't know how to create mods they can use it with ease with creating clothes and objects

I love Inzoi it's my dream game but I want more social interactions and better family gameplay, another important thing to me is night clubs haven't seen much coverage on that. After seeing all these videos of coverage I can't load up Sims 4 no more because seeing how much Inzoi put in EARLY access it's like WOW we really did get ripped off and I will definitely be switching over to Inzoi permanently.

I am soooooo glad there is a real game coming out that can ACTUALLY compete with the Sims, but not to destroy it. To hopefully improve it. I am a big Cozy Games player so I still want Paralives more, but I am impressed by InZoi on several levels…but also still feel its lacking in some others which InZoi stans come at me for. InZoi not being on Mac and Console will keep people playing Sims. Also there is still stuff you can do in Sims 3, you can’t do in InZoi. So those who stuck by Sims 3 for feature set over Sims 4 have no reason to leave. Except aesthetics. Taking platforms out of the conversation, It really depends on what your most high investment “thing” in the Sims is how ready you are to jump ship. As a big rotational player while switching characters seems smooth it still has more limitations in InZoi then any Sims game. And even internal family switching is fine, but meh. That’s a high value play tool for me. Also InZoi has more city management then city editing right now. And while it has weather, it does not have seasons and while I hate how Sims 4 did seasons I love how Sims 2 and 3 did it. I don’t want to ‘make it winter’, I want Winter to just happen. Right now InZoi doesn’t have that as an auto occurrence. I never bought Laundry day or bust the dust, so the fact its basically in InZoi already has zero effect on me despite it being impressive and notable. I do covet the cars and the subway and bus systems. Love those.

I hate that people feel the need to attack people for having an opinion. I was into the gameplay of LBY, and then it was canceled 😢 but i never bashed other people for wanting Inzoi and Paralives. I'm now leaning towards Inzoi more now, but even I'm still skeptical about it as well. People need to realize that we don't know the finishing products of these games just yet, so i can't say for sure that i will for sure get inzoi. I also feel like all 3 games (sims 4, Paralives, and Inzoi) could offer something for everyone. I like actual debates and opinions, but it seems like nowadays it's just all about attack first, then debate later. I agree with a lot of what you say about how this will depend on how people will jump ship from Sims 4.

I feel this upcoming Sims game will probably get canceled, just like the Sim City genre ☠️😅 probably the Sims Genre indeed could die, too. Inzoi already has in the preview/test version now SO MUCH MORE to offer than Sims 4 ever offered in 5 years+ Interactive work, Seasons, the Sims 3 colorwheel and create a style, you can even create your own furniture and also upload 3D objects to have it ingame. Pets are also probably already inside. Sure, the hardware requirements needed for Inzoi are pretty tough, but upgrading your PC probably will be a lot cheaper than all the Sims 4 DLC.

Personally, I think it's reasonable to say that maybe inZOI won't completely replace Sims4 (I mean it's also too early to predict) but if it just successfully launches as a playable game, a huge percent on Sims4 players will migrate reason being there's just more you can do with inZOI in general meanwhile S4 is not only incredibly buggy, but also so boring and so limited. The character creation in inZOI itself already got me hooked honestly, especially as a genz-er I feel like this would make inZOI more successful than s4. And if inZOI is accessible enough, the players from Roblox could easily move to inZOI when they grow out of Roblox since the most popular games in Roblox right now are very similar to or just very much are life sim games. I have a feeling only the older generations will remain loyal to sims because of this.

I don't think InZoi needs to go after casual and console gamers. It's actually great that it knows what it is and what's its focus. The same can be said about Paralives, which will be the casual's favorite, no doubt. A life sim on a console isn't a good idea in the first place, and not because of the graphics. Consoles aren't made for heavy CPU workloads, that a proper simulation game requires. If a sim game compromises on that, you get something like CIties Skylines II. DOA.

The accessibility argument is a fair one, but also a lazy standpoint from EA. For project Rene they mentioned involving phones. So imagine them arguing *everyone* should be able to enjoy their game and therefor adjusting the game on every other platform to accommodate mobile players. Like no. I have a gaming PC and want the full experience. They should use that as a starting point and scale down from there, like they did with Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch. You want good graphics? Listen let’s be real , the only reason you don’t want the sims to die (it’s already on its last breath) is because it will mean that your channel will no longer be relevant enough and will not make sense anymore. Basically your channel will die along with the franchise’s and that’s why instead of worrying about the sims you should be doing what pixelade is doing currently and try to get partnered with inzoi or paralives . I'm really concerned about Insoi's gameplay. The facial expressions seem stiff and there doesn't seem to be much to do. I didn't even like the eating animations. You can not only have several Zoi in a household, but you can also check the stats on all the Zoi in the town and go help those who are failing or stacking up bad karma. Your "job" seems to be making the town good and balanced. You can set the difficulty levels to make it as cozy or as challenging as you like.

For me, it goes back to what you Satch have said in the past, The Sims 4 is A lifesim game but doesn't feel like a THE SIMS game. I was there for years, but I didn't enjoy it like I did other The Sims games. The other were so complex and full that there are still things from the original The Sims game that I have never done, and that is true for 1 and 2 and 3. People who have never played the other games just don't get it. They can't. I'm wondering if that is the problem for the simgurus as well, they haven't been exposed to the others enough to understand what is missing in Sims 4. It's not just the way they give a bite at a time instead of the whole meal, its the entire feel of the game that has changed from THE Sims. So if InZoi captures even a small part of that magic the other games had, they'll skyrocket. For me, until I feel that magic again that I got playing The Sims 1 2 and 3, I'm good where I am.

I find InZoi interesting but Idk if I'd ever play it for stupid nitpicky reasons. Like I'm not a fan of most of the outfits I've seen. (Will modders and CC be a thing?) Also it seems to take itself a lot more seriously than Sims, which isn't my jam. I love Sims cause it's batshit and chaotic af & makes me constantly laugh out loud. Also I saw a vid where a player got their Zoi a boyfriend, married them and had a baby in less than 2hrs of gameplay. That's not my jam either. I'm 100% a hardcore gamer who plays all genres, horror/action/Fortnite being my favs, and I prefer the cartoony style of the Sims for the Sims. Cause I think it just fits well. I'm not at all a "cozy gamer" and tend to find most cozy games boring cause I need a good plot and character depth to really hook me in. InZoi is beautiful and I think the style fits the more....mmm serious-seeming mood of the game. Because Sims is meant to be silly & funny and chaotic I don't think more Alpha type styles would work.

Inzoi gives a lot of settings and options for everything you mentioned. Want harder relationships? There's a setting for that. Want an apocalyptic landscape with crime and fires? There's settings for that. You can have all that chaos. They also have goofy animations and deaths. Want it to look cartoony? There's literally a setting for that as well

The Sims 5 could redeem itself only if they can give us some of the nice features Inzoi and Paralives have in basegame and lower the specs because Inzoi's recommended specs are wild imo. The recommended specs would require me to either buy a new laptop or do some small but inconvenient upgrades to the one I have (which is quite a nice, expensive gaming laptop that I don't want to replace lol).

I think they’re going after two different crowds, and between them, they’ll satisfy all the people that are sick and tired of S4. Paralives will probably work on lower spec PCs and maybe even Macs, maybe a PS5/Xbox port, but if they really knew their gaming crowd, they’d port it to Switch 2 next year. And it’s going to be more of a cozy game. inZOI is going to require a gaming pc/laptop and is going to appeal to the crowd that’s always wanted a life sim that looks as good as Final Fantasy. So there’s going to be something for everyone besides the forever broken S4, and Project Rene, which they’ll rush to market, and is going to be crap anyway, since it’s cross platform with pc and mobile.

I think Sims 5 wont be launched. inZoi and paralives are raising the bar in the life sim genre, so unless EA really plans to deliver a good sim game they might as well scrap sims 5. Its not like they dont have other games to put time and money into

i hope project rene does bomb. ea, and i assume the heads at maxis as well, need to realise that people want single player life sims like the sims 3. sims 4 is a disaster due to the foundations from project olympus + simcity 2013 destroying the entire franchise due to its online-only nature. whoever's idea it was to make project rene accessible on mobile, when there are already 2 games [and this hindering the potential for project rene] and this live-service approach im sensing, then yes, it does deserve to send ea and maxis a message!

I might be remembering wrong but i believe inzoi stated they created their own database for their AI to pull the picture's from for the inzoi design studio to avoid the whole ai dilemma of stealing other peoples art . I think it was in one of their streams .
