Never apologize for long content that covers what you want to say. This series is gold. Thanks for doing it!

Thanks, I have a lot to say apparently.😀 At least someone is listening. KZbin does a great job of finding people to listen to me, ha ha, but I realize this content is not for the masses.

Commenting as I watch. Time index 2:20 a tip I learned rebuilding my beetle - sprinkle some baby powder in those fuzzy window channels to help the glass slide more smoothly. I enjoy your videos, thanks.

Thanks! Now I know it's you Will. I went with Teflon spray. Does the baby powder turn the seals white?
@vwfanatic239013 күн бұрын
@ surprisingly not. Do a test on one of the bits you cut off. Maybe the materials are different than what I used in my beetle build. That was a great show and I’m glad I got to see you there and your 356. Excellent job.

Well done mate, Looking forward to see how you do the door opening seals, who ever installed mine when it was restored used the wrong adhesive and now they are constantly falling off. Another thing to note for those who are about to install the door window frames is the bolt that holds the vertical frame near the door latch has a thinner head than normal, if a normal bolt is used it will hit the painted frame of the door opening.

Good fact about the rear bolt with a thinner head. I showed these bolts on the regulator too. In my case a regular bolt doesn't hit the door jam, but I will swap it out with the correct bolt at the next plated batch.

That brass washer is the pivot bearing , goes to top of the shim stack, nice job.

My car needed more than one apparently. The drivers side isn't as bad.

Concerning the threshold, I think it is very important as you see it every time you open the door. I did lots of reading up on doing it correctly. Some might appreciate seeing you do it as you are so correct on details. Great door window and door card video!

Dr Brett Johnson has a very good diagram and the Ron Roland book is also a great reference. I can show it in video format, but I rely on those books alot

Dude, awesome work! I still don't get how you raised the wing glass without raising the upper pivot point. Guess I'll sleep on it. LoL. It was also interesting how you can put in the roll-up window glass after the frame was installed. Love the detail. Keep it up. Cheers.

I'm a magician, but I give secrets. The glass is curved as well as the hinge brackets. They slide relative to each other to adjust for the new height. I thought about glass grinding tools but ended up not needing them. Next time you see a 356 you will be cursed to examine the wing windows for missing rubber seals🔮

Aren’t you way past when you should’ve done headliner.?
@GarageTimeAutoResto13 күн бұрын
That's affirmative😀. I made the choice to attend the West Coast Holiday for motivation after a long resto. I can pop the front and rear windows out in about an hour. Also the seats slide out in about 10 min. Not worried about it. I didn't want to rush the headliner before the show.
