@@whitehouseonthehill As a rabbit breeder, I don't agree with what S M said. Rabbits actually react very badly to the anesthesia used to fix rabbits and they typically have a 50% chance of surviving. I like the idea of chicken tractors. But keeping rabbits on the ground is a poor choice and hasn't been a popular solution for 100s of years. The best housing is in cages and you can find details in any good book about raising rabbits. There are many ground-dwelling parasites and pathogens that can lead rabbits to a quick death.

@michaelbassett145 жыл бұрын
Stacey the difference between a tractor and a hutch is that the tractor is movable. You move the rabbits to fresh grass each day and the wire keeps them free from predation. That cage is more than sufficient if it is moved to fresh grass regularly. Plus no urine stench! = happy bunnies! A recent survey of wild rabbits found that nearly 93% would trade freedom of movement for freedom from predators. 😋Where we live there are too many hawks, foxes and dogs roaming around. I’ve tried free range chickens and lost too many birds to feel good about that option.

I get that you probably need theyer old space for other animals but you should have like split the old space because rabbits need large spaces for zoomys and to just to just be happy in general (that's why some owners will have them free roamed) and of course they should be socialized with another rabbit witch you have and then temps,hay, water, ect.

@@whitehouseonthehill Pairs of rabbits rarely ever work. Often they will kill each other if you don't know what kind of rabbits to put together. And people do raise colony style, it might be a good fit for you. You have an area for rabbits and you have does and typically one or two bucks in there. They breed as much as they please and you can sell the kits when they are old enough. But of course the rabbits in colonies have to be used to it or used to other rabbits.

Just so you know: Rabbits shouldn't be watered with bottles, they can drink out of bowls just fine. Rabbits should be SUPPLEMENTED with pellets, not given pellets full time. Rabbits should always have a supply of hay. Timothy or Orchard. Please do not give them alfalfa. Please research what kinds of fruits and veggies you can give your bunny that are healthy for them. @denniswald17985 жыл бұрын
Andrea Velez rabbits are wild animals at heart, they are SO much happier outside and I know from personal experience that they can very easily become depressed indoors and being outdoors gives them much more enrichment. The reason she’s trembling is because she’s new to the cage and she will calm down later. They definitely have a good home here and they should not in the least bit consider adopting them out.

Andrea Velez yea you are right they are domesticated, however, you wouldn’t want to lock a cat inside would you? And I know that they hold and play with their rabbits all the time, I agree the cages could use a few toys and more bedding but it’s pretty great considering what some people keep their rabbits in indoors. I admit it’s not ideal but I think this is a fine way of keeping your rabbits as long as you keep a close eye on them.
