This also might be useful for leopard geckos addicted to wax worms, and that’s hard to break the unhealthy habit. You can probably mix it in with the wax worms in that way they consume more nutrients and they’re not just consuming fat. I don’t have a leopard gecko with this addiction but it might be useful)

Hi there, I don’t know if you’ll read this but wanted to reach out. My gecko, Geeky passed away this week after a long life. He was special not only to me but to my daughter who has several disabilities and learning difficulties. She started helping to care for him when she was 3, and she is nearly 12 now. We weren’t Geeky’s first owners but he spent some fantastic years with us. We love your channel, not just because it helped us both learn about things like handling, feeding, set up and so on but because of the love for these lovely little creatures. It’s fantastic there’s a creator like you sharing so much about them. We don’t know if we’ll get another gecko just yet, but certainly we’ll still be watching. Thank you.

My gecko is on Emeraid Carnivore at the moment to help give her medication down her since having a urate crystal blockage removed. I might speak to the vet about using this instead, at least it looks like proper lizard food rather than the critical care goop! Thank you for your well timed video!

Dubias are pretty easy to breed and can live off dry rabbit food and some cat food.

I have actually considered buying this but unfortunately i really don't think my gecko would eat it, he's quite picky and refuses to eat anything that doesn't have moving legs (won't eat any worms not even wax worms)... Would definitely like to give it a try once i adopt a second gecko or another insect eating reptile though

At this time I don’t have a uvb bulb so i am using Zoomed calcium with D3, my question right now is whether it is good to use Exo terra multivitamins as vitamins and minerals source or is it better to use a other product? I think it is good for them. They will be more civilized, calmer and happier creatures. They will eat slower and enjoy their food more. Wooden spoon though mate. Is there digestable string?, one might leave some Insectigold hanging in the cage..

I had to hand feed my gecko one of those, it was called leopagel when he was recovering from a parasite and he now has ptsd from it… I offer it to him and he runs away, waving his tail every time. Super weird

Is their weight changing? They might be in brumation, where reptiles eat less and are less active in colder months but remain the same weight. If the gecko is losing weight then you should probably see a vet

Could be burmating, where they move and do less to save energy throughput the winter; however, brumation can be avoided if temperatures were kept the same. If temperatures dropped and more heat wasn't added, you likely triggered brumation. My leopard gecko still eats and moves in the winter, but his enclosure temps the same year round. You should keep an eye out. If tail starts to get skinny and then the belly, probably should see a vet. Could be a number of things causing lack of eating.

So I was wondering if you have UVB lighting on for proper daylight hours is it ok to also have an iridescent black bulb on for 24 hours a day for heating? Was wondering if I needed to have a daylight bulb or if I could use it 24/7 with uvb during the day.

Any lights at night will disrupt their day/night cycle. They can handle a temperature drop as low as 60F at night, so they typically don’t need heat at night. If you need/want to provide nighttime heat, use a ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector at night. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer/dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial primary heat source.

I just catch them with my hands. When I co-oped at an exotic pet store I took a tall plastic container and hit the egg cartons the crickets were on against the container, causing them to fall into the container. From there you can use tongs.

I sometimes use metal tongs to feed my gecko and haven’t had any problems. Although there are feeding tongs you can buy with rubber tips that are softer for their mouths.

Adults only need to be fed 1-2 times a week. Keep in mind that mealworms aren’t the best staple diet, and a varied diet is best. Live crickets, roaches, silkworms, and black soldier fly larvae can be fed regularly. Super worms and hornworms can be fed occasionally. The more variety in their diet, the better.

@@Gamer7906u a general rule of thumb is as many as they’ll eat in fifteen minutes. I typically feed between 4-8 per feeding, depending on when my gecko turns around and goes back to her hide.
