I've never worked on a tank before, but when I drop a 'non sticky metal' piece, I ball up a hunk of duck tape sticky side out and put it on a stick. It works. This brings back memories of Soltau and the Luneburg Extension back in the mid-80's. Knackered, covered in oil and dirt, head first in the engine bay with the Recce Mech trying to get the wagon back on the road.
