Review/Test of Lenny Magill's tungsten guide rod. Going over the features and performance of the product using a glock 43X

The purpose of the tungsten guide rod is to reduce felt recoil, not aid in slow single-shot shooting like shown in the video. A stock 43x is capable of MUCH tighter groupings at those ranges. I think after a little more training a cool follow up video would be how tight/how quickly you can get a controlled pair on target, stock vs tungsten rod.

I bought the Tungsten GuideRod as well I saw a little improvement, but I also purchased a Rogue grip sleeve that allows me to better manage the snappy Glock 43X. I agree with you, the price point is not the best.

I've never broke a factory guide rod that wears out per factory recommendations at 5000 rds and cost $14 unlike a tungsten $80 . How many rounds does tungsten last before replacing.

Thank you for the review. I love Lenny, but he’s also selling a product. This helped tremendously. Now I can put this Tungsten guide rod in the “want” list, rather than “must have”. I’m still gonna get the Glock Store’s trigger and extended parts kit for my 43x. Once again, thank you so much for putting this video together, it’s a lot more work than it looks. Jack

I go the stainless steel replacement route. Not as heavy as the tungsten, but still about twice the weight of stock. I didnt like the added muzzle weight of the tungsten guide rods. One of the benefits of a Glock is the lighter weight overall. Adding another ounce or more is a felt difference in balance and carry.

So.. if you make the front of the gun heavier it will be harder to keep steady naturally. Its a recoil rod. Not a barrel. It reduces recoil at the expense of making the front end heavier.

Ok you lost me at the second test! 5 Feet really and you shoot that bad. At 5 feet the round should be touching each other! When you learn how to shoot do a test at 15 yards!

It is impossible for guide rods to make a gun more accurate. The mechanism of the guide rod just isn’t their to affect the accuracy of the firearm. Maybe felt recoil might be mitigated but it doesn’t physically make the gun more accurate.

At $85, it’s not worth it. Buy ammo and practice or, buy better sights. Glock sights are trash. You could always go to Wolff springs and pick up a heavier recoil spring and stainless guid rod for half the price and eliminate some of the “snappiness” of the gun. That will help greatly with follow up shots and recoil management.

I don't find my 43X "snappy". (Have mostly fired 124 grain federal FMJ and federal 124 grain HST JHP rounds through it. Haven't had any failures.) I tried a tungsten guide rod. Didn't find that it changed muzzle rise or felt recoil at all in my experience. I didn't find that it improved my accuracy at 15 and 20 yard ranges. I figure that the Glock engineers designed the factory captive recoil spring assembly the way they did for good reasons, balancing the reliability, durability and accuracy of the weapon to the its optimum. It's like the sights. Many folks hate the polymer sights. (The same polymer that the grip assembly is made from.) I find them to be exceedingly easy to acquire and I have never had one fail in over 25 years of owning and using Glock pistols. Pistol control and accuracy is all about the shooter and has very little to do with aftermarket gizmos which might compromise the weapon's reliabilty when you need it the most. I don't think aftermarket tweaks are worth the money. And, at defensive pistol ranges, won't make you shoot even one iota better, IMHO. Good video, though. Well done and fairly presented, even if my results may vary. Cheers. 8:08

Put that 43X in a gun vice and take the human factor out of the equation. An aftermarket guide rod does NOT improve accuracy.

It's no where near worth $95. With only 15 - 20 rounds using new rod , this video is all but pointless. You would need to shoot more rounds, faster, to see if it helps recoil. Shooting as slow as you did, at that distance, it'd be hard NOT to hit center. Range too loud.. way too loud. Lower range volume when editing video and add a Voice over to tell us what you're doing there. Be in the camera's view when you go shooting. Can't speak for everyone but I'm not a fan of surprise gunfire. Your testing doesn't convince me of anything other than you got use to shooting by the time the new guide rod. A better way to test would be x rounds with stock, x rounds with new then put the stock one back in and repeat. You want a channel to stick out then you're gonna need to be more excited/animated. You have to sell people on YOU first. Best to create a script , it should help you by knowing what you are going to say ahead of time. All that said I really hope your channel grows. And I hope you take my words to heart and know that I am not trying to bring you down.. the truth is far from it. Remember, don't practice until you get it right... practice until you can't get it wrong.

Yeah this one's tough to watch. Production value is there but marksmanship is definitely lacking....with either guide rod. 10 foot testing, that's three freaking 3 yards!!! We should see only one hole with multiple rounds through it, good grief man. This "testing" can't be taken seriously, sorry.
