Hi Lena, I’m American, 10/12 years ago my rheumatologist wanted me to have infusions for RA. I wouldn’t, it was 4000.00 every 6 weeks, not including deductible and co pays…. I waited to retire and get on Medicare and a supplement (not advantage)… I’m luck I’ve worked hospital billing. So i knew what to do. Started treatment 16,000. Per. insanity . Biden will have so much to finish up…i would work for him free..and vote for him at 160 years old… love peace and light to all

The major damage from the disclosure of the documents has probably been done. Trump would most likely sell the most valuable secrets first. What is left is probably not as damaging. The government doesn't want us to know the true extent of this breach of security for various reasons: Openly discussing details may cause other security breaches, it might cause panic or disgust by the public, it might reveal the extent to which our government knows what's going on with this breach to our enemies, it might reveal the ways and means of our government more broadly to the rest of the world, it also shows the weakness of the system. Why the people around Trump would not have refused this illegal behavior is what baffles me. He would not carry all of the boxes himself. They all need to go down with Trump because they are not supposed to follow illegal orders. Trump IS bound by the law, and so are they. They were bound to follow the law with respect to the handling of government documents, which belong to the American people, not the president. However, it might be best that Trump loses the election by virtue of his own ineptitude rather than because of his legal troubles, which tend to elicit sympathy and enervate his supporters and may aid in bolstering Trump's claim of a "witch hunt". The legal troubles will persist after he loses the election and eventually bury him and his accomplices. As we have seen, the legal process is very slow moving, which discourages people, but this has always been the case. It is just that people don't usually pay attention to the legal system, unless it affects them personally. But I do agree that Garland took too long to act.

We are not perfect but we do have the basics right - free healthcare OR you can be privately insured if you want the extras (e.g. dentistry which isnt free). We need to expand our system to teeth ... but you get the best surgeons and doctors in the public system

In the early days of the debate over Obamacare, or maybe even during the Bush years, Frontline on PBS did a deep dive into medical systems in five other countries: Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Britain had the only technically socialized system, in that the government owns the health care providers. The other countries had some form of what is ‘democratic socialism’, I think. Bottom line was, no one was left paying off huge medical bills. In most cases you were free to purchase private insurance, but many did not. Wait times for elective surgery varied by country, but acute problems were dealt with expeditiously. One American ex-pat living in France was astounded to learn that, after the birth of her child, a nurse came to her house several times a week for 3 MONTHS to check on her and the baby!

About our healthcare system, an observation from a fellow sociologist. It isn't that we don't understand there are better ways to do it (and European examples have been studied extensively!) It is that our health insurance industry is so entrenched (also via legislation & regulations regarding the role HMOs--health management organizations--"must" play) that it would take significant legislation and considerable reform-oriented political will to uproot the present (ineffective) system and replace it with something better. The political will falls short because half the government establishment (you can guess which half) counts insurance companies among their largest donors. Lacking that will (which could create fundamental change), reformers among us instead push for incremental change that is actually achievable--*more* insurance coverage, with more generous rules (a la Obamacare/ACA), or the idea of expanding the already-existing Medicare system to cover more people, presidential support like the new medical debt/credit reporting relief, and so on. We are the living example of what corporate capture does to the health and well-being of a population, and how very difficult it is to get disentangled from that once it takes hold.

I can't imagine dumpy showing up to debate an intelligent, honest, accomplished , powerful person in power. He'd be scared stiff of totally humiliating himself. (I think it was different with Hillary because he figured she's a woman and he could try the physical intimidation, and also just blabb over her). That said, I'd love love love to see it. 😅

🤣 Bannon was NOT a "tough guy Navy Seal". Bannon was a Surface Warfare Officer on the USS Paul F. Foster. He oversaw the maintenance of the propulsion and water purification systems. He then served a stint at the Pentagon as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the grade of 0-1 and 0-2. While serving in such junior grades, and with his work mainly described as handling messages between senior officers and preparing reports, he was likely what would be described in corporate America as an administrative assistant - opening and reading mail, taking phone messages, conducting occasional research, etc. He was briefly assigned to Operation Eagle Claw - the attempt to free the Iran Hostages - in the same role as he had served at the Pentagon. He left the service after 7 years as an 0-3.

Love you, Dr. Lena. We all needed the acknowledgement and support regarding the reality of the PTSD we have suffered because of Trump. I pray for the day that he no longer exists, so we may once again have some peace of mind. I understand he has his supporters, but I am hoping the good will outweigh the evil. I also have faith the Fani and Jack Smith are the right people for the job and they will prevail on these cases.
