It's been running like crap... 3 different controller and we can't get this Kunray my1020+ motor to run smooth.. Will this last controller fix it?! Lets find out!

It was the angle in the tune. My1020 motors are notoriously difficult to get a tune right for. Votol controllers work very well with them. You have to tweak the angle by 5 degree increments until it runs smoothly. The kr5v is even more difficult to get right, lol. I have 3 of them and one is 125 degrees, the other is 50 degrees. Wildly varying.

I wish it were that easy, tried it to no avail.

Oh no! That's worrying. I've got a Kunray 48v 2000w motor, but with the cheap, silver controller they come with. It's been in my shed for about a year. Only just started work on a peddle go-kart i'm converting. Hope it works ok because it's too late to send it back now...

Don't worry too much. I haven't seen any issues with the cheap controllers yet, but let me know if you have any problems!!

@@TackleThat Thanks - I'll report back my findings...

Good vids. Thanks. My Kunray does the exact same. 48v with Fardriver 72200 autolearn tune. Throws the chain right away on speed 3. Speeds 1 and 2 are smoother though on mine. But slow. With the kunray controller no issues... but jerky throttle and sluggish. Has anyone got this motor/controller to work??

Dang sorry to hear ... No solution yet but I'm surprised no one has found a fix!

That motor was a turn in the wrong direction The motors before that I've ran for 5 years on 9000 Watts for $80 a motor then E&C got involved in pretty much ruined it by doing the "+" made it overpriced and top at 6,000 Watts. The vevor motor is made by kunray but I get higher Watts out of them. KR5V is much better, stay away from e&c stuff

Totally agree, I either go vevor motor or kr5v.. kr5v at 150+amps is a beast!! 💪

@TackleThat No doubt man it's pretty impressive! It does seem to get some heat pretty quick running around that 150 line amps but she's still going! The FW-11 is great but I mean the KR 5V is pretty good for the price

Do you have your "AN" set correctly for a surface magnet motor and not an IPM motor?
@TackleThat11 күн бұрын
I believe so, tuners looked at all the settings, what should it be?
@imho7250Күн бұрын
@@TackleThat, if that motor used surface mounted magnets, AN should be 0-8, typically 0 for large hub motors, 2-4 for small inrunner motors like the 1020. The KunRay KR5V needs AN 12-16, because it has V-type magnets. Some people misunderstand AN and think hub=0, middrive 16, but thats not correct. AN is wave form, which tells the controller what to expect the d-axis and q-axis to be doing. During field weakening the controller must add current at the precise time to affect d-axis without affecting q-axis. So changes to AN are normally only noticeable once field weakening is being applied. There is also LM, which is wave interval. 22 is default but it should be tested at 20, 18, 16 stopping when there is no clear improvement, then increase it until it gets noticeably worse. You want the highest LM value that gives smoothest quiet option. LM improvements will be felt even at low rpm, and affect performance as it accelerates. My motor is a hub motor with 20 pole pairs, and does best at LM 16. I have no idea which value is best for your motor which I guess is 3 pole pair. Just try the tuning steps from the fsrdriver tuning manual. It’s possible that motor is damaged, which seems to be the case if you tried VESC motor wizard and it’s still running bad. Maybe a cracked magnet or something if the motor was allowed to exceed maximum mechanical rpm limits.

You think they are from a bad batch? Maybe from the same lot? Just bought one from hotpaxx going to double check it hope mines not doing the same . 😮

You’ve tried all the major parts swapped out… but what about the throttle itself? Maybe you’ve been testing with a bad throttle?
@TackleThat3 ай бұрын
Yeah, throttle voltage looks smooth and correct, tried 2 different throttles, one new, One came off A working system.
