Megan Mullally received eight nominations for an Emmy award, winning on two occasions for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Karen Walker. Will and Grace was so popular that over 50 well known celebrities guest starred including Grammy, Emmy and Oscar nominees. Guest stars such as Academy Award winning actress Mira Sorvino, Glenn Close, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Seth Green and Chloe Sevigny appeared on the show. Jennifer Lopez, Maccauley Culkin, Sharen Stone, Demi Moore and Geena Davis guest starred. Kevin Bacon, Ellen DeGeneres, Joan Collis, Micheal Douglas and Gene Wilder. Icons in the music industry such as Elton John, Madonna, Barry Manilow and Britney Spears also guest starred. The series was such a phenomenon during its run that broadcasters Katie Couric and Matt Lauer, co-hosts of the Today Show (from1997-2006) appeared. Perhaps the greatest actor ever to guest star on Will and Grace was James Earl Jones. Jones is one of the very few to ever receive EGOT : two Emmys awards, three Tony awards and a Grammy.
