I deeply soak in each and every tip and demo so generously shared on this channel. They cost a lot to produce and I’ve been constantly amazed at how much the team allows the public to view for FREE as more than a preview. If you are willing to improve, you’ll understand how foundational these concepts are and just put them to practice.

I am an old lady but animated for the studios and studied under Sergei Bongart who bought and lived in Fechin's California house and was one of the best teachers I ever studied under!

I would like to know what kind of brushes are used in Russian plein air painting - can't seem to find that anywhere. I can tell they are bristle, but which hair type?

It's not a "free oil lesson", it's a demo plus interviews

unfortunately, there is nothing about Fechin here... I would even say there is not much about anything...

Why do so many male artists wear a hat indoors to paint in their videos? But thanks for the video. I enjoy the humor too.

To prevent overhead lights from hitting your eyes directly. Helps to gauge colors and values better and reduces eye strain

A lot of theory for picking colours, measuring out the image and lots of talking, little-to-no action, the artist only gets down a handful of brush strokes by 49 minutes and then the video launches into a 45 minute interview... Disappointing is an understatement. No idea if the full 'concentrated' class is worth the $171-137.00 on their site, but I'm sure there are 'lessons' that provide much better value for your time and money on KZbin already... Could have cut down on so much 'fluff' in the edit, this video might be free, but it doesn't respect your time.. Back to looking for somewhere more 'streamlined' I guess.

With portraiture,a good likeness is vital. That is the reason he takes a lot of time measuring. That is what a client who would commission a portrait of himself is paying for.Expertise.Time spent getting the likeness right.

If you can't paint, get a big hat. FFS fifty minutes to get to see that ? Have a day off !
