Much respect for your work. I do (most) maintenance and repair on my cars myself. Changing a clutch is not my favorite job. Just happened to have a few in a row. My Renault trafic i even had to do twice because i got carried away with sticking te gearbox back in and crashing the new friction plate... My father's Fiat Ducato camper went ok but took a long time and lots of swearing to get the gearbox fully back to the engine (as hard as it was to get it out..) Luckily my 2005 Ford Transit went fairly smooth, together with a gearbox swap, and it's just back on the road. Took me quite more than a day's work though... But did it in style, on the driveway in the rain. And i use a jack to lift the box in and out (i'm just not that strong ) I really enjoy your content though and admire how you tackle al these different cars with their different design quirks. I myself prefer car bodywork (maybe that's why i bought that Ford Transit..)
@WMCS10 ай бұрын
You’re right. Ford has kept things fairly simplified. Even the new ones. A dream to work on.. Hats off to you for tackling the Ducato. I’d rate it as semi advanced level… Now you’ve got quite a bit of experience in the rain you are ready to take it on the road. Let me know 😁🍻🍻🍻

Another fantastic episode! As I am watching this from Canada 🇨🇦, and being a retired mechanic, I came to realize that the UK has a greater percentage of manual transmission/drivers. The present trend here is that manual will be a thing of the past. Things were different back in the day. Keep up the great work. 👍

My thoughts are the general population in North America are somehow ‘conditioned’ to just jam it in ‘D’ for Duh! Lol. Easier when commuting long distance in stop and go traffic. I have also noticed that these drivers don’t bother to engage the parking brake. And consequently resulting in seized cables and the mechanisms. I have had the pleasure of replacing many, many due to lack of use. Sorry about the long reply. I just wanted to share. Cheers!

It's a delight to see you work. You make the difficult look easy. What admires me most is the ease with which you place the boxes. In the Volkswagwen Golf you pick up the box at time 2:18:23 and in 30 seconds, at 2:18:53 you were already screwing. Incredible, it takes me longer to put the eggs in the refrigerator. And your skills as a filmmaker are not negligible. Greetings from the Basque country

@isidroaguirrebengoa181110 ай бұрын
@@WMCS The Basque Country belongs to the Spanish State, it is an autonomy of the Spanish State but unlike the rest of the autonomies it has its own Treasury. That is, it collects its taxes and pays the State for unmanaged powers, such as the army, etc. It is very nice, if you have the chance, see it. San Sabatian, in the local language it is called Donostia, is possibly the most beautiful city in Europe and is where there are the most Michelin stars. If you come, I would love to be your guide.

First watching and im really amazed. Working outside and with such a neat routine. You are a awesome mechanic! Also amazed that red van was worth the repair, I know its a work van but holy sh*t that poor thing is rough. Paint falling off everywhere, some proper racing slicks for tyres and she looks just sad. If a guy were to show up in a van like that, probably backside full of junk and loose tools everywhere Id send him home
@WMCS10 ай бұрын
Don’t say that. Not everyone can afford to roll in a new van. The owner is a builder and great tradesman. Top class at that I may add. That’s his workhorse. It’s not great to assume negatively by appearance.
@Poging210 ай бұрын
@@WMCS I do agree with you, but on the same hand appearances do matter to some extend. Your van is tidy and organised and that reflects your work. You work well organised and take pride in your work. Paint doesn’t make them run ofcourse, but it just seems someone has been really careless with the poor old van. Paint missing everywhere, underside being all dented. Though I am absolutely and totally wrong for assuming thats the current owners fault, maybe he bought the van like this. You are right about that and I do apologise for saying what I said before. But leaking oil and those tyres being worn down to the structure are on the current owner. Again this is me making a assumption, but that tyre should have been replaced long ago. He could be in a serious accident or hurt someone if it blows out or in bad weather if he slips. Didn’t mean to upside anyone, its not like I have money or a brand new car. Mine’s a 2005 that’s definitely seen better days. But I do keep her tidy and maintained as well as I can

You can get a solid flywheel conversion kit from LUK for some cars - if yours ever goes wrong Vauxhalls used to have a plate on the bottom of the gearbox to change the clutch through in the late 80s early 90s you could change a clutch in 20 mins - WHY they ever changed to the stupit internal slave & DM flywheel is beyond me - unless it was to charge more MONEY in labour !! back in the day you could do a full service clutch & new camshaft in a day & car back out - now it would be in 2 weeks !!!
