Thank you for the story, it happened and it's history. Remember Mays had just served the country during the Korean Conflict in 52-53, but then he faces home discrimination. He played through it.

He was also banned from the Olympic Club, which banned blacks and Jews. Quentin Kopp and he joined Lake Merced and eventually they got into the Olympic Club

Good story. It's San Francisco history and it is important to know what happened. When I was three or four years old, he hosted a party for the neighborhood kids. I'll never forget my mom was shocked ...that he was serving fruit punch and had white rugs. 😮 1963 or 64. We moved from that neighborhood to a bigger house, near San Francisco State College. The first black families had just moved in and white flight was occurring. So this is a very real part of history. 🙏🏽

These are the extra burdens Blk ball players had to deal with. Also why Russell Westbrook has no tolerance for fans calling him “Boy”.

it's good to remember the good things in history and also the bad, so that we can learn from the past. As america loves the inventions of the airplane or lightbulb, and claim those things within themselves, but when it's negative things, they don't want to claim them.

@charlestodd5685 U mean leave up to DONNY the convicted felon and the no outreach in to black people in a black church filled with white MAGA followers yes it is racism that he's never stopped !!

People who say “stoking the flames of racism” never suffered from terrorist acts of racism and want to bury American history.
