I just found this video on Utube and it is so special to me... I was filming a sunset on Santa Monica park many years ago and Roger Miller walked up to me and watch what I was filming and then said to me " Imagine a sunset if God had money" I thought what beautiful words. But then Willie Nelson came up to see what was going on and said " Did Roger tell his line about God's sunset " "Then looking at my civil war hat he said " I must get me one of those" And here he is wearing it, Wow! They were on a tour and their bus was parked just up the road were I was filming. Thank you john R

A few musicians have written a song called ~Old Friends~ all three that I have heard all have different lyrics and a different tune. Guy Clark, Bill Gaither and this rendition written by Roger Miller for his parents in Oklahoma. Roger and Willie sung so well together, the great country icons are leaving us, one by one...R.I.P. Roger Miller

its a great song, and I've always been a fan of Willie's The hours that we used to spend together, we actually formed each other into what we are today. I must have a million stories of things we did together, that I share with anyone that's around! It seems like everyday something happens that triggers a memory from our days. I was telling my girlfriend yesterday about the time you shot the tv with your bb gun watching a western!

The first time I heard this song the words "holding arms to climb a curb" meant one thing to me. I thought it was a sweet thought. Today, nearly 40 years later and after having one knee replacement surgery and another knee surgery needed but not yet done, those words mean something totally different to me. As a matter of fact about a year ago a woman with whom I have been friends for 35 plus years and I were going into a restaurant and as we stepped up on the curb, she took my arm and helped me up and that song immediately came to mind. Something else that has a totally different meaning to me now than it did when I first saw it was the little lady lying on the floor saying, "Help me. I've fallen and I can't get up." The first time I saw it, decades ago and like the majority of other people, I thought it was extremely funny. Again, it's not quite so funny today.

Michael Brooks Ah; so, this is a completely different version then. However, I've listened to both of them and they both actually sound exactly alike.
