In this economy, haircare is getting more and more expensive.
WE TIRED!
While I love (and will still use) my higher quality, higher priced hair care goods, I'm challenging myself to find great products that are affordable.
Enter: the $20 haircare challenge
Today I tried the African Pride 2-in-1 Shampoo and it definitely disappointed. It left the buildup untouched and intact on my scalp. Not the strongest shampoo in my books if I'm looking for effective cleansers.
The Doux, was amazing as always. It's reliable and affordable when you think of it as an all-in-one styler, no leave-in required. BUT that wash and go will need more upkeep throughout the week!
Let me know what y'all's favorite affordable, effective shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, curly creams, deep conditioners, and stylers are down below!
I'm tryna get a real cheap routine going!

One podcast I love in particular is called the Dead Meat Podcast where the hosts do in-depth reviews on horror movies and give tons of background info. Sometimes they do games the audience can participate in as well. It's just a fun chill time.

I hope you do a video one day trying hairspray. There are some natural/curly girls who do use hairspray after their styler when damp/wet, or after they have diffused. It really does help with hold and helps your wash and go last 💕 & oil sheen does help with shine or scrunching out the crunch if you don’t like oils/serums

You’re hilarious!!!! 🥰🤣😆 I have a tip for the bumps after eyebrow waxing, because it used to happen to me. Always use an alcohol free toner after the waxing. After about 20-30 minutes, apply an acne spot treatment (salicylic acid, not benzoyl peroxide) where you were waxed. It will prevent the acne from happening. Do not let them put baby oil or anything heavy after the waxing. That should do the trick. 👍🏾

I use their conditioner too or I buy those lil packates of deep conditioner, usually the Palmers coconut packets. For leave in conditioner, I use cantu the orange container. For scalp moisturisers I love Carols daughter products. I love to use camille rose products too if im getting fancy. I dont really use mouse and gel stylers cuz I rarely do wash and gos. My hair grown better in braids and protective styles so I focus on moisurizing and scalp health.

I'm glad you broke down the economics of it all. I only use Giovanni product line because it works well for my locs. The way I see it, if I am only getting them done every 6 weeks, I can afford to use better products in between going to the salon. My hair is long and healthy, so it's what we choose to invest in. For me, health IS the investment. As far as the negativity, if it sounds ignorant, ignore it.
