Recently, the City of Loveland and Parks and Recreation Department broke ground on Willow Bend Park, Universal Access Playground, and Natural Area - marking a significant step towards opening Loveland's first universal access park, which goes beyond physical disabilities, and engages cognitive, auditory, visual, and emotional challenges. It was designed with love for individuals with disabilities, their families, friends, and caregivers.
🥾 Located in east Loveland, this park and natural area provide a key connection for the East Big Thompson Trail, which is planned to extend from Downtown Loveland to the new trail underpass at I-25, connecting to Johnstown's trail system in the future.
💰 This project has been made possible through a collaborative effort, with funding from the Loveland Parks Capital Expansion Fees, Loveland Recreation Capital Expansion Fees, Conservation Trust Fund, and the Open Lands Fund. Additionally, grants will cover 26% of project costs.
Community input was a driving force in shaping the park design concepts. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project along the way!
