paused squats, front or back, are my favourite exercise tbh. always doing them for warmups and often like to go heavy with them.

i think a pause above parallel after coming out of the hole can be good for lifters that have a hard time using their legs.

Deficit trap bar deadlift. Work up to a decent max. 5 or 10 lb more than before and then do 65 to 75% for 2 to 3 sets.

given your thoughts on periodization, would you say it is really possible to go lift twice a week (say squat) and simply look to improve your performance every time (i know you wont see progress each workout, but go into each workout with that mindset)

When I began to lift I was unable to do backsquats because of a lack of hip mobility, zercher squat being less demanding I used it for a year or two. Excellent variation

zerchers are great because theyre easy to bail from and i feel more confident failing with them.

The number one squat is ABSOLUTELY the Hatfield squat. Conducive to the MOST load and least stress.

Using box squats rn as I deal with some tendinopathy. Mainly use it so I can standardize depth and will make the box lower and lower till I can tolerate full knee flexion. It’s definitely way different than my usual ATG pause squat!
