I didn’t notice a shower exhaust. So remember to open the window a crack each time you shower so the moisture has somewhere to escape. Nice job it’s beautiful..

I thought the same. Maybes its in the ceiling.. would defo recommend getting one especially in winter... having the window open might get cold.. keeping it closed will mean all that moist air will find its way into the rest of the house.. other than that cracking job mate

You say it took twice the time doing it yourself, but this doesn't factor in your professional worker ghosting you, hiring subcontractors, creating more problems, hiding their mistakes, ghosting you again... there's at least a 50% chance this got wrapped up quicker. Great education to boot, and now if problems arise, you know how and where to fix. Kudos.

Final result looks fantastic. I have to point out some things though. Should've used adjustable spanners for tightening water fittings. I would have used joint compound. I hope you don't get any leaks in the future as it seemed you didn't use inserts in plastic pipes. Fingers crossed. With all that adhesive on the tiles will be a nightmare getting to the plumbing. I would have used lvt tiling on floor personally. Still a great job you and girlfriend should be proud 😅

Trying to think like a drop of water - if it's slightly out of level inwards, the water has nowhere to go, if it's levelled outwards, it would drain back in the shower, but the trim around might stop it. But otherwise you did amazing! The tile job looks phenomenal (and you made it look easy), and the whole thing turned out fantastic!

Thanks mate, I did put a slight angle to the front of the niche to help it drain a little but you’re right. The trim around the edges stops it so we just make sure to squeegee and wipe it clean of water

Couple of tips not sure if they're necessary, silicone between the toilet base and the floor and between the sink and the wall to stop any water getting down the back.

It looks great will. My dad was a big diy person when I was younger. when i mention it now doing stuff my self he told me it's just easier to just pay someone to do it. It my cost more but it gets professionally done and there is no issue down the line and if there is its for the person to fix that installed it. But you are doing great. But i still try to diy stuff my best. It makes me feel good.

Just paid £8k for a bathroom demolition and installation (not including the materials such as toilet shower etc). So you saved yourself a fortune. I wish I had the courage to pull something like this off but I’ll just have to pay the professionals for now

Do little circles not big ensures that all of it sticks and more secure with the silicone

It feels so weird that the water proofing does not rise from the floor the lower part of the wall. I mean if any seal leaks on the tiling, It goes straight back to the floor and wall. Well must be difference between coutries. In Finland I think the waterproofing is build like a bathtub. Doesnt matter if it goes under the tiles, it wont access to structure. But looks fantastic. Nice job.

That’s a great point and because it my first time I didn’t even think about that but I’m sure what you said would be a better way to do it
