A couple of fun flights of the Willy Nillies Cub after finally getting the finicky Cox Pee Wee engine to run better. This has been a fun project and the little airplane flies great!

Just picked up a vintage sale plane with an 8 foot wingspan that is cox powered. Haven’t started, seen, or even heard one of these engines in about 35 years when I was a kiddo and first got into rc planes. I took a hiatus from flying from about 1995-2017 due to me joining the military, college, wife, kids, etc..., but got back into it when I saw how easy it was to get back into to hobby with the advent of foam rc planes, 2.4gh, all this smart technology, snd everything else. But of course after I got the flying itch back I know it was gonna be time to start with my roots in balsa building, gas, and nitro - even though I still like the simplicity and versatility of electric. Hearing the sound of that engine in your video plus the awesome build pics you took after makes me feel like a kid again. Can’t wait to get this sail plane built and starting that sucker up. Cheers my friend and awesome video!

That’s fantastic! Good luck with your project! I also enjoy flying the modern foam electric planes but they just can’t replicate the experience of the old school balsa planes with glow power. All the best to you!

That little engine brings back some memories. My first trip into model flight was a few string planes that had a baby Cox engine like these. I think they were .12 or .15, and I was about 11. Never forget my dad helping me start and fly them. Cool plane!

Nice work on the build and the flight, watched the maiden then this. Looks like you really got her dialed in
@TeeBeeZee3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The maiden flights were definitely done in too much wind and the engine was feeling grumpy. Everything went much better the next time out.

Awesome running plane! I am interested in fuel tanks for the smaller planes like this for extended run time. What do you use? Your engines run so well!
@TeeBeeZee9 ай бұрын
Thanks! The fuel tank in that plane is about .5oz capacity. It’s made from an eye drop bottle with a plastic pickup tube and vent line installed through the cap. A fellow modeler made a few for me a few years back.

It's actually quite fast

Nicely done Troy! Beginning at 3:35 throttled back looks and sounds more like a Piper Cub.

No throttle. Well timed rich needle. :)

Would an .049 be too much engine for this plane?
@TeeBeeZee9 ай бұрын
Yes! The size, weight, and power of the .049 would be too much in my opinion. It would fly more like a pylon racer and have a higher wing loading. It’s not an airplane that really likes to go that fast.

"There ya have it, folks!" 2:30 Nice flights. That's how I thought it was gonna fly in the last video. That little Pee Wee was running right this time! Using the same propeller?
@TeeBeeZee4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Same ole' 4.5x2 prop.

Hermoso! Con que porcentaje de nitrometano estas usando ese Pee wee?

I run a PeeWee 020 in a free flight for an event PeeWee 30, I was surprised how fast your RC plane is. Looking at your propeller I might be running too small of propeller.
