Apart from the generic teen stuff, and silly twist with the cops I gotta say The movie really delivers on the idea of nick going against this blasted animatronics! Their lower budget likely meant they’d rely more on practical effect anyway which really made it more engaging. This movie was nuts. Yeah it is a B movie with a straight forward story with some gore. But my wife said it best: Leave your brain on standby and you can have a fun time. That sums it up. Cage shoulders the movie easily without speaking. But his acting does the job, he etablishes a routine and after he saw some shit he just tries to hold his routine. I liked the movie, not good not bad. Just entertainment.
@BackyardPix3 жыл бұрын
There's pretty much zero actual gore in the film. And the fight scenes between Cage and the "animatronics" (obviously people in cheap, shitty suits...) are done with extreme, shaky close-ups and choppy editing. It's so poorly done. The Banana Splits Movie was bad, but that atleast had some real gore effects and grizzly death scenes. I'm actually surprised this movie wasn't rated PG-13. It even had a fully clothed "sex scene", for god's sake. So damn lame. Haha.

You know, in all honesty I've watched alot of reviews on Willy's Wonderland... and I think Decker is the first one to 'get it'. Yeah its a FNAF ripoff, yes it is shameless, yes it doesn't have a budget, it is cheap and cheaply made. The plot is simple and not to hard to follow and it is corny. But people use these thing's to give it a bad review. Or write it off as a crappy movie. The movie is.... fun. Why can't movies just be fun anymore. It's got a great hook and it has fun with the plot, it leans into it, it knows what the viewer wants and gives them that. Not every movie has to have politics shoved into it, or be some great epic, some can just be fun. Evil Dead, the postal games, just... pure fun. To me thats what this movie is... its just fun and it doesn't have to be anything more than that. I like Willy's Wonderland.

It also fits that Nick's character is a stickler about rules and cleanliness as we see in the intro that he has a pair of dogtags on his mirror, so maybe he's ex military? honestly i didnt expect to like the movie as much as i did, even as a huge nic cage fan. i think the choice of him not saying a word worked wonders for the movie. i loved it. i also love you but youtube doesnt want me to because they never tell me of your new vids.

I think it might be because people aren’t really familiar with the odd ball movies like the foreign Godzilla films so they probably aren’t watching. Also those videos of you guys just talking over movies without clips are hard to sit through.

funny how Godzilla can be so mainstream and well known and win at the box office, yet very few have actually seen the original Japanese movies, one of those things that is so mainstream, yet also isn't.. they know the pop culture character, but not the movies

Great review Decker. I wish Nic Cage would make more movies like this.

ATMs don't use the internet. All they need is a phone line.

The ones in banks usually do use the internet. The stand-alone ones (in stores, restaurants, etc) have the option of internet or phone line(generally the newer ones). Some even have the option of data-only cellular.

Anyone who critiques this movie with "objectivity" has to be the most miserable person ever.

I am not sure if it was said already, but people assume, since Nick plays a ex military person, that the reason why he was suddenly getting his ass beat by willy is because of the explosions going off, with the distortion we are maybe seeing it in Cage's perspective, dealing with some sort of shell-shock trauma that allows willy to get the upper hand.

I don't know if it's actually what was planned. But if you look at this movie through the lens of the janitor being a child who was super traumatized, due to being a survivor of that place, a lot of his behavior makes sense. And for this movie it would be him effectively going there to deal with the trauma.

Silent stoic protagonist kills a bunch of murderous animal themed robots in a maze of coloful horrors? This should be titled Cageman X!

Hell yes! Love this movie! Awesome decision for a summer special as well! I really enjoy how Nicholas Cage has been staring in lot of genre movies lately such as this, Mandy and Mom and Dad. The man aparrently has debts to pay, and we’re reaping the benefits. Can’t wait to see what other movies you cover over this special!

Always good to see more Decker! My sweetheart and I both think you look pretty damn good these days, mate! The mustache and glasses both took a review or two to get used to but it looks good on ya. Kinda like if Weird Al was a librarian.
